Volvo has revealed the first image of its new seven-seater SUV, the 2015 Volvo XC90 R-Design. The new XC90 R-Design is an upgrade of the recently revealed XC90 SUV with some cosmetic updates to make it look more sporty. The new 2015 Volvo XC90 R-Design is likely to be launched in India in early 2015.
The exteriors of the new XC90 R-Design looks more dynamic with its modified front and rear bumpers, front spoiler, new front grill, 20-inch alloys, silver painted roof rails & wing mirrors and two large chrome exhausts at the rear. The aerodynamic body shape of the new Volvo XC90 R-design gives the SUV a more dynamic look than the standard XC90.
The interiors of the new XC90 R-Design adds on with its leather sports seats, special floor mats, new pedals, perforated-leather wrapped steering and leather remote control. The central console has a touch screen media unit and 12.3″ digital display to match the unique R-Design theme.
According to Volvo, the R-Design trim will be slotted above its entry-level Momentum and be a sportier alternative to the more luxurious Inscription variant. Says Alain Visser, senior vice president, marketing, sales and customer service, Volvo Car Group, “In principle, we have replaced the previous top level with the Inscription and R-Design versions. Both of them feature an elevated content, carefully chosen to emphasize each of their distinctive individual personalities,”
The engine of the XC90 Re-Design is same as the existing XC90 model. It is equipped with the 4-cylinder petrol and diesel units and a top of the line T8 plug-in hybrid variant. The hybrid variant features a 2-litre turbocharged or a supercharged 4-cylinder unit driving the front wheels and an electric motor to power its rear axle. The maximum combined power output of the hybrid variant comes out to be 400 BHP.
