2017 KTM Duke 390 Design
From the looks of it, the design of the 2017 model is an evolution of KTM’s current design language. It retains the sharp creases and aggressive lines. It will look like a smaller KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The 2017 MY Duke 390 sports a new headlamp design that seems to be split down the middle. Also, it appears to be a full LED unit with a partition running down the middle. The LED headlamp unit will also feature daytime running lights. There will be other new design elements including a new, sculpted fuel tank, new tail lamps and possibly more colour schemes. The motorcycle pictured here seems to be carrying KTM’s signature white and orange combination.
As always, Bajaj will manufacture the 2017 KTM Duke 390 at its facility in Chakan near Pune and the high levels of localisation will help keep costs in check. Bajaj has benefitted a lot from this alliance with KTM and so has the Austrian bike manufacturer. The bike is expected to raise the bar in the entry-level performance segment when it gets launched at a reasonable price.
The new video that surfaced online a few weeks ago clearly shows multiple features of the upcoming KTM bike in India. The bike will receive a full-colour LCD panel in place of the current instrument cluster. Also, the headlamp is full LED, and so are the indicators and tail light. One of the most noticeable changes here is the side mounted tail pipe. In order to conform to Euro IV regulations, KTM has had to use a bigger pipe, one that cannot fit in the underbelly like the current model KTM Duke 390.
2017 KTM Duke 390 Features
- LED Split headlamps
- Sharper new generation styling
- LED turn indicators
- Exposed Trellis frame
- LED pilot lamps
- New fuel tank design
- LCD instrument panel
- Full metal fuel tank
The highlight of the above, however, has to be the new LCD instrument panel. This full-colour screen could offer varied information on engine behaviour. Like the 690, the new 390’s tachometer graph too could change colours at different revs. This new instrument panel will also enable the rider to pair his/her phone facilitating features like navigation. According to reports, this new KTM will feature a full metal fuel tank. This will make it easier for riders to mount magnetic bags.
