2018 BMW X7 Imagined; Likely to Debut in Late-2017

Enough has already been speculated about the 2018 BMW X7 series flagship SUV. While the first spotting of the X7 dates back to 2014, the new flagship is still some time away from its release date. The new SUV will enter production at the BMW‘s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant in USA. Prices of the top-end models could be in the region of EUR 100,000 in Germany. Seen here is a rendering by popular German magazine BILD, which has imagined the BMW X7 by taking inspiration from the latest gen 7 Series. The spy images seen earlier hinted at an overall length of at least 5 metres. This also indicates that the 2018 X7 SUV could be a 7-seater. This behemoth of a luxury SUV will be built on the new CLAR rear-wheel platform. This new platform will be constructed from aluminium and carbon-fibre to keep the weight under check without compromising on the structural rigidity. With the 2018 BMW X7, the Bavarian car maker aims to tap into the markets like, the US, Russia, China and India which have recently seen a tremendous surge in luxury SUV population on roads.

In all likelihood, the 2018 BMW X7 will enter production in early-2018. Its release date, however, could fall in late-2017. Details on India launch are currently too sketchy. However, a late-2018 or an early-2019 launch can’t really be ruled out.

Speculations are rife that the BMW X7 will measure around 5.35 metres in length. It will feature a 3.0-litre twin-turbo and 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engines. These engines will come from the 7-Series. The X7 could also get a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 for the range-topping model. The X7 will be a full-size SUV. Hence, safely expect a three row layout.
