Audi is preparing its compact hatchback the Audi A1 for rolling out on Indian Market in year 2011. The A1 has been recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2010 at Switzerland. Audi A1 will be the smallest size hatchback from the stable of Audi brand which is owned by German automaker Volkswagen.
The car looks beautiful and compact and will be an affordable option for Audi fans. However, it will still be much costlier than the Indian counterparts in this segment as it might be imported as a CBU (completely built unit), in which case, the price maybe as high as Rs. 20 Lakh. If Audi can make arrangements for importing it as a knocked down unit and assemble it in India, then the cost may go down by about 30 to 40 percent compared to the CBU option.
This decision largely depends on whether company can sell the car in high volumes or not. One such example is Volkswagen Beetle which is imported to India as a CBU as its more of an iconic car and sales in India are not too high.

Audi A1 will be a premium luxury car with all the goodies that are expected from a full featured luxury car.
The car will feature luxurious leather upholstery, up-class interior finish, in built car entertainment and climate control, sport gear knob and steering wheel,dual tone interiors.
