Is the Bajaj Dominar 400 Better VFM than the Pulsar RS200?

2

Bajaj has upped the ante with the new Dominar 400. But this isn’t the first time that the popular Indian bike maker has decided to usher in a sporty, performance-oriented motorcycle at an almost unbelievably low price point. The Pulsar range has been the choice of most performance junkies on a budget. The RS200, which is the flagship of the Pulsar range, delivers a high performance, confident handling and an overall sporty ride experience. But a question that’s currently on everyone’s mind is if the Dominar 400 has really taken the performance game several notches higher than the RS200. Here we have a detailed comparison of the latest Bajaj with the best in the Pulsar line up. Read on for our Bajaj Dominar 400 vs Pulsar RS200 comparison post-

Bajaj Dominar 400 vs Pulsar RS200 – Price Comparison

Bajaj Dominar 400  Bajaj Pulsar RS200
Std- Rs 1.36 Lakh

ABS- Rs 1.50 Lakh

Std- Rs 1.22 Lakh

ABS- Rs 1.35 Lakh

Like we said, the Dominar 400 has been launched at a really attractive price point. On sale for Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom), the Dominar 400 has made all other bikes in its segment look grossly overpriced. However, an ultra competitive pricing has always been BAL’s forte. Even the Pulsar RS200, which comes with class-leading performance and features, is priced rather lucratively at Rs 1.22 Lakh. So, basically, both the Bajaj bikes here are well priced. However, in terms of sheer value for money, the Dominar 400 is absolutely unbeatable. For the slight premium it commands over the RS200, it offers several more horses, and more bells and whistles, too.

Bajaj Dominar 400 vs Pulsar RS200 Comparison Verdict

We always knew the Dominar 400 is more powerful and a more modern product than the RS200. This post, whilst acknowledging all the qualities of the Dominar, tries to analyze if the premium the Dominar 400 commands is justified.

  • Design – Looks are subjective. The Dominar looks very modern, but the RS200 has the quintessential half fairing.
  • Specifications – The Dominar 400 offers significantly more power and a much higher top speed whilst costing only marginally more.
  • Price – At roughly Rs 1.35 lakh, the non-ABS Dominar 400 costs almost the same as the ABS-equipped Pulsar RS200. However, save for the absence of ABS, the base Dominar 400 turns out to be a more VFM than the RS200 ABS model.

Our Verdict? The Bajaj Dominar 400 is a great buy. It is easily the most VFM offering from Bajaj yet.
