Once Bajaj used to be the market leader with its scooters like the Bajaj Chetak and Bajaj Super and ruled the Indian two wheeler segment for quite some time until the phase of motorbikes came. The scooters were phased out owing to the high levels of pollutants discharged from their exhausts.
Bajaj then started concentrating on motorcycles which were not as cheap as scooters but were capable of attracting customers. The company rolled out numerous models out of which the Bajaj Pulsar and Bajaj Discover are undefeated champions in their segments respectively.
Bajaj Pulsar initially became a heartthrob with its very new Bajaj Pulsar150 sporting a sophisticated 150CC engine which was adored all across the country and a 180CC model. But the transformation came when the firm introduced the entirely different Bajaj Pulsar 200 and Bajaj Pulsar 220 being the first powerbikes that the Indian two wheeler market had come across.
The latest word coming from the company is that Pulsar 220 has been launched in Sri Lanka and will distributed by David Pieris Motor Company (DPMC). So far the company has launched eight bike models including Platina 100, Platina 125, CT100, Boxer BM 100, Discover 100, Discover 135, Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 in Sri Lanka and this one is the 9th addition to the existing line-up.
