Ford India would have never expected Ford Fiesta to be a huge hit among the Indian Customers after the disappointment faced during the initial years when Ford made its entry with Ford Escort and Ford Mondeo. The new facelifted Fiesta is already drawing attention in the Chinese market and is expected to hit the Indian Auto sector in the early months of 2011.
The company has already reveled its plans of upgrading the existing car portfolio it carries with the Fiesta Hatchback and now Facelifted Fiesta and with no price details about the new car it is expected to compete with Maruti Suzuki SX4 and Honda City.
Michael Boneham, president of Ford India while throwing light on this strategy stated, “Right now we are focusing only on Figo, which is expected to be the game-changing model for us and the company. Having said that, we’ll not restrict ourselves with only one model and many global models are expected to add to the company’s pipeline. As far as the new Fiesta models (both hatchback and sedan versions) are concerned, I’m not ruling out its possibility. This is primarily because, India, China and Brazil are emerging markets for us and every new model is important for us in the long run.”
Last month in China at the Ghangzou auto show the facelifted Fiesta was unveiled and Ford had revealed about reaching out to India, Thailand and China with the same. Ford India now-a-days is busy receiving admirations from the Indian Customers on Figo and this has indirectly boosted their plans of launching Fiesta facelifted and hatchback.
