Both these cars are placed in a price range of about – Rs. 3.6 Lakh to Rs. 6.04 Lakh ex-showroom
The prices of Volkswagen polo are on a higher side being a more powerful car with more luxury features. In this comparison I will compare the 1.2 Litre Engine model of Volkswagen Polo for a fair comparison not considering the 1.6 Litre model as its a different class in terms of power and performance and comes at a premium.
Price Of Volkswagen Polo Vs Price Of Ford Figo
The price of Volkswagen Polo 1.2 Litre Petrol Variant varies between 4.34 Lakhs and Rs. 5.7 Lakhs. Whereas the price of Ford Figo 1.2 Litre Petrol Variant varies between Rs. 3.6 to Rs. 4.5 Lakhs. This price difference is the first differentiator between the two cars. Talking in terms of budget, I would say these cars belong to a different price bracket than each other, but anyways I want to compare them because these are both small hatchbacks and fresh new in Indian Automobile Markets.
Engine And Transmission Comparison Of Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo 1.2 Litre Petrol
Volkswagen Polo Engine / Transmission :
- 3 Cylinder
- 1198 CC MPFI engine
- Max Power – 74 BHP @ 5400 RPM
- Max Torque – 110 Nm @ 3750 RPM
- 5 Speed Manual transmission
Ford Figo Engine / Transmission :
- 4 Cylinder
- 1196 CC MPFI Engine
- Max Power – 71 BHP @ 6250 RPM
- Max Torque – 102 Nm @ 4000 RPM
- 5 Speed Manual transmission
Considering the above specs, it seems that Volkswagen Polo is better in terms of power and torque. Not only because the Max power and Max Torque are higher, but also because the Max torque and power are delivered at lower RPM as compared to that in case of Ford Figo. These specs suggest that Volkswagen Polo will be more convenient for city traffic where more start and stop situations there. Having high torque at lower RPM means less gear shifts and more comfort.
Exteriors And Size Comparison of Volkswagen Polo And Ford Figo Petrol

Considering these specs, it looks like the Polo is longer and has slightly larger turning radius. The wheel size is almost same for most variant. The wheelbase of Figo is slightly larger. These cars almost stand same in these specs.
Comfort Features Comparison Between Volkswagen Polo And Ford Figo
To do a fair analysis, lets not forget these two cars come at a different price bracket, so Volkswagen polo might be having more comfort and luxury features.

Many of the features are available in both these cars, but Ford Figo might not be as high on luxury features as Volkswagen Polo because of the Price difference.
Availability Of After Sales Service Comparison Between Volkswagen Polo And Ford Figo
In this context, Ford has an upper hand because of its longer presence in Indian automobile market competed to Volkswagen. This might be an important criteria for you if you are living in sub-urban or rural areas where there are limited number of car service stations. If you live in a metro city of India, it will not be a deciding factor.
Conclusion Of Comparison Between Volkswagen Polo And Ford Figo
If I was to decide between Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo, I would select Volkswagen Polo because I live in a metro city, for me power/torque are more important than my budget, I am not on a tight budget and I like the luxury features which no doubt come at a premium in Volkswagen Polo.
But if you live in sub-urban areas where you might not be have service centers of Volkswagen, or if you are on a tight budgets, I would recommend you to select Figo as it comes cheaper, has more service centers compared to the Volkswagen.

Clearly Figo is better than Beat and is a Big Value for Money car.I have seen and test driven both Figo and Beat.It is very crampy in the rear seats in Beat. There is very little Leg room and cannot fit 3 persons in the rear seat.The boot space of Beat is also very small(i think 135 lts? compared to 284 lts in Figo).It feels far more airy, comfortable and spacious in the Figo.Space is rear seat is quite decent and better than any other hatch back.In this regard, Figo is the King.Some may like Beat’s contemporary design but Figo’s design is also quite simple and decent.
Ride quality:
Beat: The dash board in Beat is quite high and it might take some time for one to get adjusted to.front visibility is not all that ggreat.Test drive was good however there was slight running noise
Figo:Ride quality was excellent.When i turned ON the engine, it was so calm.Even while driving the ride was smooth, calm and nice.
My Conclusion:Features and Price being almost exactly similar, Figo scores BIG over beat in terms of ride quality, Space, leg room in the front and rear seats,Comfort, Boot space.Clearly Figo is better choice and great value for money at its price.
i want to buy small car and i have three option in my hand plez suggest which is best (swift,polo & figo)in diesel.
