The second generation Ford Figo has been launched in India. The new Ford Figo retains the strengths of the outgoing model (Read: Frugality, Robustness and Affordability), along with showcasing Ford’s Kinetic design language and boasting of an updated list of features. Figo has been instrumental in turning the fortunes of Ford in India and many other emerging markets. And in all probability, the upcoming model would carry forward the legacy. The new 2015 Ford Figo has been launched and will be followed by the launch of the all-new Endeavour SUV.

The India-spec version of the hatchback is likely to feature a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine and the 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, TDCI turbo diesel motor. These engines are offered with the Figo Aspire sedan as well. Additionally, thehatchback also gets a 1.5 litre petrol with a dual clutch 6-speed auto.

Ford has packed the new Figo to the gills with features:

  • 6 Airbags
  • ABS with ABD
  • ESP
  • Hill-launch Assist
  • Perimeter Alarm
  • Ford SYNC
  • Ford MyKey
  • Dock for smartphones
  • Automatic climate control
  • Multifunction steering wheel
  • Cooled glovebox

While the new Figo will continue rival the likes of Maruti Ritz and Hyundai Grand i10, the compact sedan will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Hyundai Xcent.

Until now, Ford has been following a one model strategy wherein they concentrate majorly on one car from their line-up. It started with the Ikon and continued on with the Fiesta, Figo and now the Ecosport. However, with the advent of the new Ford Figo the company has another shot at switching to a more balanced strategy and concentrating on selling all the models in its stable. Having said that, they will have to definitely concentrate more on the new cars i.e Figo Aspire and Figo, but Ecosport is still a very popular car and losing out on that could be catastrophic especially with new competition from Maruti and Hyundai right around the corner.

The New Ford Figo could turn out to be the game changer for the company as the car has all the makings of a winner. Good looks combined with a feature-rich package and Ford’s usual sorted out driving dynamics could help them reenter the top of the sales charts easily. Beating the Maruti Swift is a tall order no doubt, but the Figo has enough to take on Hyundai Grand i10 and even the Elite i20. Let’s see if the new Ford Figo India can emulate the success of the outgoing Ford Figo and more importantly if it can sustain that popularity in the long run.

  1. Why ford is not introducing Automatic transmission in their lower models like hatch and sedan? When almost all other manufactureres have introduced why ford is lagging. Hope to see AT in the upcoming figo so that people bored in manual transmissions, old people and ladies can benefit. Can we expect?

  2. The AC unit in FIGO class functions efficiently only for two years. After this it will stop and start erratically and you will be sitting in heavy traffic and sweating and listening to hissing noise because it does not switch on at less than 1500 rpm. Also every two years the evaporator coil, clutch, compressor oil, filters and cutouts have to be changed because the fins get corroded and airflow gets blocked causing condensation. Ford does not accept the poor quality and does not check this under normal yearly maintenance. Be prepared to spend over an additional 20K to the 12K for annual service every two years.

  3. The AC unit in figo model is very poor. It withstands for 2 years and every 2 years additional investment to be made minimum 10k – 20K.

  4. Dear Sirs
I am a lover of Fore as I was owning a Ford Escort from 1997 to2018 and a ford fission petrol up to 2012..
I am very much eager to buy the sedan figo aspire when launched.. I prefer to buy the petrol with automatic transmission..Can I expect a petrol unit with fords famous Ecoboost 1ltr engine mated with fords automatic transmission.

  5. I am based in New Delhi and want to sell my i20. It is a brand new car and is very well maintained. I have heard that is a good online portal to sell cars and earn good profits. Is it true? Please provide your views.

  6. I have Figo car since 2012, & satisfied with the car’s performance in city & as well as on highways.Ac is very is v good ,cabin is spacious ,mileage is 17 km/l..
Extended warranty works v well,& I was benefited 32,000/-with the cover ,specially when I crossed 3rd year…above all service factor is v nice ,workshop staffs are friendly…I m proud to b owner of ford Figo.

  7. The one car to look for…wait is over.
As far as AC complaints go…well I have a Figo for over 4 years now (run for more than 91000 km on all kinds of roads best to the worst) and not a single issue with it.
Its still going strong. Hats off to Ford for making such a car.

  8. What exactly, the major issues!!
    1. The acceleration.

For city conditions, people may not have attention to the same. Since they drive the car from 1st level to 2nd level and then maximum 50 – 60Km/hr speed at city conditions! Like humps, traffic signals, traffic etc. that means mostly @1st and 2nd gears in use!

Main issue of performance on Highway speed @ 70Kms to 120Kms/hr

Suppose you are driving the at 70 – 100 Kms/hr speed. Your front vehicle too in the same speed. When you want to overtake him, you should increase the speed. Before you overtake, suppose you have aplied a little break and then will apply the acceleration immediately. When you apply break, RPM speed will fall down a little. When you apply acceleration immediately the lost RPM should take pickup fast enough to overtake him within seconds.

Why it should be??? Because when you apply break the RPM will not fall down to 1st / 2nd gear level RPM!! It will be still at 60- 70 Kms/ hr level RPM (it means 3rd/4th / 5th gear level) will be there. So it should take the pick immediately…”””WHERE AS IN FORD FIGO THIS WAS NOT POSSSIBLE AT ALL””” I tried several attempts by changing the gears to 3rd and 4th level but “”FAILED””” miserably!!!! Even a high speed truck driver was close and he was overtaken in other direction!!

A big life Risk and Life Threat!!!

  9. 2. Engine can’t withstand the load of passengers when you about to release the clutch!! Even in little slopes, it can’t withstand and it shutoff immediately if the acceleration not given immediately. Idle moving on clutch release was not available!
    3. Ground clearance – general issue! Knowingly or unknowingly if it hits there will be a big damage to car as well as passengers inside due to less head clearance!!
At last, all my experience is genuine and reasonable! It was not known till I drive long 2200Kms at single trip!! In August month! After sharing these with my colleagues, those are actual problems exists with this model!

  10. Vyshak said very TRUE! not only the ground clearance but the DEADLY drawback of Ford Figo which I was experienced on High way speed @70Km/hr to 100Km/Hr+ it has very poor acceleration! I tried to over take a vehicle several times, but the acceleration drastically failed. Rather I faced life threat for al my family. What is the actual issue?? the moment you apply a little break to overtake the front vehicle, and raise the acceleration… horrible! the acceleration is IDLE! EVEN I changed from 4th gear to 3rd gear.. acceleration does not have any performance on Speed. I stuck in between with NO option! the Opposite Truck Driver after reaching deadly close!! he overtaken from other side…Oh GOD! I tried several times but I came to understand from several people the same ISSUE.

  11. FORD has acceleration ISSUE on 3rd, 4th gears and even 2nd gear you can feel at city conditions if you have proper experience on driving. EVEN on second gear with loaded passenger it takes enough time to take pickup!!

In general People wont feel the performance in city driving unless they experience on Highway speed!!!

In this way people go on purchase by look and some features and while time they realize…… its is TOO Late for any action!

Please be Noted. our investment should be on right vehicle! after all we have enjoy the ride! at any condition!
With the passengers, even it cant bear the torque/engine in ON condition when You release slowly the clutch! rather it should take movement Engine getting SHUT Off. every vehicle when you release clutch slowly engine will take the movement! but this FORD FIGO does not have such power even. It needs the acceleration immediate after the release of your clutch!!
forget of keeping of HOLD on driving when were on little slope and hill areas!!!

  12. ford figo ground clearance is not good, small speed breaker pe 5 person pass nhi kr skte, car nechey lg jati h,2nd the suspension is also poor in old ford figo, and car size not looks grand like maruti swift,so I have sold out my 2010 model figo in cheaper price because of resale problem of ford in india

  13. Arif Ahmed is this the problem with new Ford figo or old . is anyone having idea about engine and performance of new for figo or aspire
