Geneva Motor Show – Optimal Energy Joule Is Zero Emission And 5 Times Energy Efficient Car

With every car manufacturer switching to electric concept vehicles in order to impart true competitor-ship to the other brands and with the same idea keeping in mind a small yet potent company from South Africa named Optimal Energy is to showcase its electric car Joule.

Technical Specifications of Optimal Energy JOULE

The ‘Joule’ is developed by Optimal Energy’s plant at Port Elizabeth allowing a cruise of nearly 300 km in  pure electric mode on one complete charging session. Talking about the specifications, to power the car a 36 kWh lithium-ion battery is connected to a synchronous permanent magnet motor generating 65 kW (87 horsepower) and 280 Nm of torque which makes it touch the first 50km/h mark in 5 seconds and 100km/h mark in 16 seconds. The top speed has been figured out to be 135 km/h and according to the information displayed on its official website the car is a zero emission vehicle with minimal environmental footprint. Coming to efficiency this vehicle is claimed to be as efficient as 5 times than the conventional diesel and petrol cars and also produces substantially less pollution and green house gas emissions in an urban environment.

Price of Optimal Energy JOULE

The car is estimated to be priced at about $30,000.
