It doesn’t take a genius to notice that currently, in India, SUVs and crossovers are all the rage. And most major manufacturers have hopped onto that bandwagon and have at least or two products on sale to ensure they get their fair share of the lucrative pie. While Honda has the BR-V on sale in India already, it hasn’t exactly been able to set the sales charts on fire. Now, Honda has rolled out another crossover and a cheaper one at that. The WR-V not only rivals fellow hatchback crossovers like the i20 Active and Etios Cross, but also the Maruti Vitara Brezza. How do they stack up against each other? Honda WRV vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Comparison – Exterior Design

While the WRV is based on the Jazz, designers have made extensive changes to the hatchback’s exteriors. The only similarities the can be seen are in the side profile and the rear end. The nose is completely new and features a flatter, high set bonnet. There is body cladding all around and the ride height also witnesses a slight increase.

In contrast, the Maruti Vitara Brezza features a more conventional SUV design. While the exteriors aren’t very eye-catching, the work well and have gone down well with the Indian car buying lot. Most buyers would prefer the conventional SUV lines of the Brezza over the jacked up hatchback look of the WRV.

Honda WRV vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Comparison – Interior Design

Unlike the exteriors, the dashboard of the WR-V is identical to that of the Jazz. The Jazz based crossover features the same design, steering wheel, instrument console, etc. Again, the dashboard design of the Vitara Brezza, much like its exteriors, is a bit conservative. That said, the quality levels are decent and everything is where you would want them to be. While the WR-V’s cabin is flashier, we still prefer the elegant dashboard design of the Vitara Brezza.

Honda WRV vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Comparison – Verdict

The Honda WR-V appears to be a good product for those looking for a hatchback crossover. However, it might not be able to pull buyers away from more conventional compact SUVs such as the Vitara Brezza.

  • Price – The WRV is more expensive than the Brezza, which tilts things in favour of Maruti.
  • Design – Honda has done a decent job of infusing SUV-like elements into the design of the Jazz. However, buyers will prefer the more conventionally styled Vitara Brezza.
  • Features – Top end variants of the WRV get certain extra features.
  • Specifications – Honda’s 1.5 L Diesel is little more powerful than the 1.3 L unit that powers the Vitara Brezza.

  1. While Maruti is having a run with some of their new models like Baleno and Vitara Brezza due to pricing and right timing. However it’s service is pethatic, dealers behave as if they do not care if you do not come to them again as they already have a huge volume. Not having a different service setup for Nexa dealership is a bad idea. On the other hand the service of Honda dealership is excellent and proper care of customer as well as the car is taken their paint job is excellent unlike Maruti dealership, which is pathetic, and as such I would definitely prefer to go for a Honda vehicle. This I am saying after using 5 Maruti vehicles since 1983 and buying a Honda City about 3 years back. Here I must say, Maruti vehicles are not bad but they need to pull up their dealers for better treatment to customers who go for service or repairs to their dealership and create a separate service facility for vehicles sold through ‘Nexa’ dealership.

  2. Thank you for such a detailed comparison, your update on the dimension was very helpful.

Both the cars are a favourite and the verdict is pretty balanced, if you need more of a compact SUV look Brezza it is, else if you need a premium crossover Honda WRV wins it with its styling powerful petrol engine and the sunroof which is definitely a plus.

Also reading manish kumars review on maruti dealership, i have experienced similar situations due the volumes and good walkins they dont appreciate customers as much as any other dealer would, as they say
” riding high on demand makes the dealer less apologetic”

  3. […] Indian car buyers love SUVs and it’s no secret that car manufacturers are trying hard to capitalize on the huge demand for these vehicles. Honda Cars India, which came up with the BRV last year, and couldn’t do much to attract buyers away from the rather invincible Hyundai Creta, is now close to taking a shot in the pseudo-crossover market. The company will soon launch the WR-V to take on the likes of i20 Active. However, it will also compete with small, 5-seater SUVs like the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport. We’ve already compared with the WRV with the Vitara Brezza. And now, in this post, we are comparing it with the Ford EcoSport. So read on for our Honda WRV vs Ford EcoSport comparison. 4. In this comparison hope every thing has been covered above. There will be good battle if the pricing of the new WRV shall be competitive as compared to Breeza. More or less both cars are good, feature wise and look wise. Breeza has got edge as it came to market at right time and is in good demand too. Honda has to look into bookings Vs fast delivery on which Maruti is flat where the booking period of Breeza is 21 weeks. Comeone Honda, yes u can do it….smart pricing and early delivery are key factors to win this this battle.

  5. honda always believe in deliver quality and wrv has all there as compare to breeza .breeza exterior and interior is lack in all the ways as compare to wrv
body and plastic quality is very light as compare to wrv

  6. As compare to Breeza, WRV have more spacious in back row, if we compere engine, when you accelerate Honda WRV (1498 CC) it gives immediate response on road but in Breeza (1248 CC) response time is slow. In WRV air conditioner is more powerful as compare to Breeza. Average is better with more power 1498 CC engine. Control at high speed is also good in WRV. Cost of breeza ZDI+ is lower (Approx 25000/- to 35000/-). But in WRV SUN roof is also additional feature it gives 1st time in small cars below 10 lacks.
In my views the Winner is HONDA WRV.

  7. Good comparison.
Diesel variant of WRV is better choice over petrol. The petrol variants lacks in power and mileage. It is the same Jazz engine carried forward and reduces the mileage in WRV. Looks perspective not that different as side profile is same as Jazz. For petrol variant better to wait for Breeza boosterjet petrol, hope it gets launched soon. This is result in close competition and WRV most likely lose out.

  9. Maruti’s service delivery is pathetic… I own a Maruti Ritz from last 5 years… Now wanting to change my car… Liked Maruti’s Baleno very much but very disturbed with their service quality…. Staying in Navi Mumbai felt at least when there are may options to go to there service would be better but it is so unprofessional that I am tired – every time get in to the conversations with untrained and sympathetic service engineers… Huge disappointment… Billing is also not transparent… if you argue – bills get reduced otherwise not for the same service… I am glad Honda WR-V is out… I am hoping my experience this time with service would be better with Honda.
Having said that I am very happy with Ritz… till date it gives me good mileage and comfort… I wish there service was equally good…

  10. i am totally confuse to choose better one in 10 lakhs car as driving experience, better looks service expense
dealership behaviour is secondary first is the value of money which one is the best for 100% best

  11. I like Honda wr V much because he’s very on power and breeza takes takes lot of time to pick up. And sunroof of honda put luxery feature in it. But i am the ownwr of maruti car right now. But my vote go against honda breeza.

  12. One more thing to add wrv has dual fan one for engine and one for ac. That means car ki performace low nahi hoti while in hills with ac.

  13. I read all reviews and now finally I go for Honda WR-V Diesel. Sometimes before I booked Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza but now finally I decided to Buy Honda. One thing I want to share that everybody said that Honda Price is more but I get Honda WR-V Rs 14000/- less than Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as Both are top models.
