For Hyundai the competition in the SUV segment has always been tough with all other brands gaining appreciable sales and the brand itself starving for what it deserved. Ever since the brand brought the Hyundai Terracan and Hyundai Tucson to the Indian Market, its been a while that we saw any other SUV coming from the same.
Now after a long time Hyundai is back with another chunky and massive product targeted at the SUV segment, the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe. The car is already popular in the west and now is expected to help Hyundai make a mark in the desired segment.

Price Of 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to be priced near Rs. 20 Lakh in order to let it compete with other cars in the same segment like Chevrolet Captiva, Honda CRV and rest. So we must wait and watch what wonder the car does for the brand and wish them luck.

Hyundai’s Santa Fe has been launched on 13.10.2010 in Jodhpur at prices from 20.95 to 22.95 lakhs, as it is being imported as CBUs from Hyundai’s factories in South Korea.
Hyundai Motor India hopes to sell 100-150 units this year, with bookings opening from 18.10.2010.
Well, good luck to Hyundai with the Santa Fe !
Unless Hyundai start assembling the Santa Fe in India, their dream of selling 600-800 units a year in the coming years will vanish like it did with the Terracan & Tucson.
What needs to be drummed into the thick heads of these multinationals is that there is a huge untapped market for compact SUVs in India, which can be easily captured with the right pricing for these SUVs assembled locally.
Once this segment catches on in India, even the current SUV market leader, Toyota will be forced to reduce the high price of their locally assembled bestseller – Fortuner and/or even launch its cheaper 2 wheel drive version in India, like Ford did recently with their Endeavour.
