KTM has gained a considerable amount of popularity in the Indian market in a short span of time time thanks to it’s hugely successful Duke 200 and the recently launched Duke 390 and the company plans to capitalize on this by launching the KTM 390 Adventure sometime in 2015. Even though the company hasn’t issued any official statement yet we have picked up quite a bit of chatter regarding the KTM 390 Adventure and its imminent launch in India.
Since the KTM 390 Adventure will be produced at Bajaj’s Chakan plant we expect a competitive price tag of around Rs. 2.3 Lakhs.
As the name suggests this bike based on the KTM 390 is a multi-purpose vehicle meant to handle off-road conditions and rugged terrain with ease. The bike has been given a very rugged look with a beefy front fairing inspired by the 1190 Adventure and meatier tyres and aid it’s off-road capabilities the bike has been fitted with more heavy duty components and features additional kit such as
- Heavy-duty suspension with more play and durability.
- Wider dual purpose tyre
- Wider, well padded and comfortable seats for both the rider and pillion
- Small carrier at the back and mounts for luggage boxes
- Tall riding position
- Bigger fuel tank capacity
- Exhaust mounted to the side in order to improve ground clearance for off-terrain riding
- Knuckle guards
- ABS as standard
- Larger tank for a longer range
Mechanically the engine is the same as the one seen on the KTM Duke 390 producing 42.9 BHP and 35 Nm torque coupled with a 6 speed gearbox. However, we expect a slightly different state of tune inclined more towards low end torque delivery.
