Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan is using 800 CC to 1200 CC engine for its small cars for almost 16 years now. In the wake of competition and awareness for more and more efficient engines with higher fuel economy, Suzuki has started development of a new small engine. The New small engine will be a 600 CC internal combustion engine which will be used with a idle-stop system to deliver as high fuel efficiency as 27 KM per litre of petrol. This high efficiency will along with modern technology will reduce the emissions as well as the running cost of the car. Suzuki will invest close to $245 million to make this engine at its Sagara factory.

These engines will be more efficient that the presently used K-Series engines of Suzuki which power most of the small cars of Maruti Suzuki. These engines earlier earlier debut in Japan in small cars like Wagon R and Alto, later on these engines may replace the small K Series engines in India cars by Maruti like Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Alto.
