Specification

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel DDiS 125 will be powered by an all-new, indigenously developed 2 cylinder 793cc diesel motor. The power output from the engine stands at 47 bhp and the torque is rated at 125 Nm. Maruti claims that this 125Nm torque will ensure the Celerio diesel does not feel underpowered under city conditions. Although initial reports suggest that the lack of power is clearly evident and the refinement levels are also a bit unsatisfactory. The ingeniously developed twin-cylinder 793 cc diesel engine for the Celerio misses out on common-rail diesel injection, and instead, boasts of a Bosch engine management system that comprises of a fuel injection block, a high-pressure fuel pump and a fuel control unit. This low-capacity oil burner benefits from a high-revving turbocharger and four valves per cylinder. The engine tips the scales at merely 89 kgs.
