Mercedes Benz is expanding the strength of its Indian R&D operations unit from current 400 to a strong 650. Mercedes-Benz India General Manager Prakash Vermali quoted
“We have a R&D centre in Bangalore, which is working in association with our global development centre in Germany… We will enhance the strength of the Bangalore unit to 650 engineers by the end of this year”
The Bangalore facility focuses on research on passenger cars. This expansion is a part of Daimler’s outlook to focus on the Asian market including India and China.

Oh yes, Mercedes has real big plans for India. Used car business, component sourcing, R&D centre and also the A-Class for which Mercedes believes India will soon be ready.
