New 2016 Skoda Rapid vs Honda City- Specifications Comparison

The facelifted Rapid gets the same engines as the earlier model. Both the engines here offer a good mixture of mileage and performance. The Diesel engine has also got a bit better due to a re-map. On top of it all, the DSG transmissions work really well. The new City also gets the same 1.5-litre Petrol and Diesel engines as before. While the Diesel engine of the City matches the Rapid’s motor in terms of displacement, it does feel almost crude in comparison. Also, it delivers a much lower torque of 200 Nm. However, where the City scores over the Rapid is the fuel mileage. The City Diesel is among the most fuel efficient sedans in India.

New 2016 Skoda Rapid vs Honda City – Verdict

We feel that both the City and the Rapid are good buys. However, the new City is a bit too expensive. Also, it doesn’t have the driving dynamics of the Rapid. But for family use, the City is better. It’s a matter of personal taste, seriously. However, here’s what our comparison results look like-

  • Features – Both cars are almost evenly matched in this aspect. City boasts a slightly longer list of features but is also more expensive.
  • Specifications – The Rapid is definitely more performance-oriented. It gets more powerful engines and DSG ‘box. The City, however, offers better fuel mileage. For a family car, the City makes slightly more sense. However, it’s not as exciting to drive.
  • Price -Rapid is cheaper than the City with the fully loaded top end trims costing as much as 2 lakhs more!
