We have already reported about the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift in great detail. It has always been for sure that the next generation Swift will give birth to the all-new Dzire. However, the new Dzire will come to us before the 2017 Swift makes it to India. The all-new Dzire, as per various reports, could make its debut by mid 2017. Our guess is that the new Maruti Dzire 2017 launch date will fall in the third quarter of 2017. Details on the Dzire 2017 are scarce. However, you can read on for all that’s known about the new Maruti Dzire 2017 launch date and price.
New Maruti Dzire 2017 Launch in India
|Model Name||Expected Launch Date|
|New Maruti Dzire 2017 India Launch||Mid 2017|
The next generation Swift made its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. Although India is a vital market for Suzuki, the new Swift will not arrive in showrooms until the end of 2017 or early 2018. While traditionally, the compact sedan derivative of a hatchback arrives a few months later, Maruti has fast-track the development of the new Dzire and will bring it to us before the new Swift. A reason for that could be the fact that the Dzire currently sells more than the Swift. Recently, the upcoming third generation Dzire was spotted without camouflage. According to reports, the prodcution of the new model Dzire is already underway.
Maruti wouldn’t be the first manufacturer to launch the sedan before the hatchback. Ford adopted the same strategy for the Figo twins, launching the Aspire before the new Figo. The latest spy shots reveal the Dzire in its production-ready form. Test mules have been spotted very frequently in and around Gurgaon, Haryana.
New Maruti Dzire 2017 Price in India

|2017 Maruti Dzire VDi||Rs. 7.20 Lakh|
|2017 Maruti Dzire ZDi||Rs. 8.35 Lakh|
There will be a difference of around 50,000 – 60,000 Rupees in the pricing of the new Swift and Dzire. Also, new Maruti Dzire 2017 model will witness a small price hike over the current model. Currently, the base petrol Maruti Dzire LXi starts at Rs. 5.27 lakh, while the top of the line Dzire ZDi AMT costs Rs. 8.58 lakh.
New Maruti Dzire 2017 Specifications
|Engine Type/ Displacement||1.2 L K-Series Petrol||1.3 L DDiS Diesel|
|Power (estimated)||87 PS||78 PS|
|Torque (estimated)||115 Nm||190 Nm|
|Transmission (Gearbox)||5-speed manual/5-speed AMT||5-speed Manual/5-speed AMT|

In all probability, the 2017 Dzire will continue drawing power from the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel units that power the current car. While the 5-speed AMT that comes with the Diesel is likely to continue, a more cost-effective AMT unit could replace the 4-speed petrol automatic. Manual transmission variants will continue with a 5-speed gearbox.
Maruti could add the 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine to the lineup of the 2017 Dzire. This engine will soon make its debut with the launch of the Maruti Baleno RS. Also, the new platform will result in a lighter car, which will help boost fuel economy. The 2017 Swift Dzire could also get the SHVS mild hybrid system.

New Maruti Dzire 2017 Exterior Design
Much like the current Dzire, the new model will also be similar in design to the Swift hatchback till the B-pillar. Keeping the 4-metre restrictions in mind, the car will feature a stubby boot. Based on the new spy shots, the boot now seems to gel better with the overall design and the upcoming Dzire looks more proportionate in comparison to the current model. The nose of the new Dzire will not be identical to the 2017 model Swift. It will feature a different bumper and grille design.
On the basis of what we have seen in the latest spy shots, Maruti is likely to throw in features such as projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. It also gets new LED tail lamps. Plenty of images of the upcoming Swift are available online. Expect the Dzire sedan to be more or less the same till the B pillar as the Swift seen in the pictures here. The nose could get additional chrome applique. Overall, we will see a more aggressive exterior design, but being a compact sedan, it is unlikely to win any beauty contests.
New Maruti Dzire 2017 Interior Design
The interiors of the next generation Dzire WILL NOT be identical to the 2017 Suzuki Swift’s interiors. As revealed by the latest spy images, the Dzire will get a different dashboard. Also, while the hatchback is expected to come with interiors draped in all black, the Dzire could get a black-beige colour scheme. Dzire will get a centrally mounted touchscreen unit with trapezoidal AC vents positioned above. The climate control gets a circular setup. There is a new twin-pod instrument console on offer as well. The sporty flat bottom steering wheel could be reserved for Swift Sport model. The India-spec production version of the Dzire is likely to come with a conventional circular steering wheel.
New Maruti Dzire 2017 Engine and Transmission
As is the case with the current Swift and Dzire lineup, the 2017 models will also share their engine and transmission lineup. The new Maruti Dzire 2017 will employ a 1.2 L Petrol engine that makes 87 PS and 115 Nm. Diesel variants will continue to draw power from the 1.3 L Fiat-sourced Multijet engine. However, Suzuki has been working on a 1.5 L Diesel engine that could replace the 1.3 L unit. Also, a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet could find a place under the hood of the upcoming Maruti compact sedan. 5-speed manual transmission will continue with the petrol and diesel engines. The 5-speed AMT currently on offer is likely to continue as well.
