Nissan had been quite for a pretty long until recently when it increased the price of its small car Nissan Micra and now its in the news for the expected launch of new two new cars. Nissan Sunny which is a sedan and a new MPV are said to be on the cards for the Indian Automobile market.
Of the two only the Sunny is the vehicle whom we are familiar with and very recently it was spotted near the Nissan-Renault plant. Very obvious is the conclusion that we draw from this that Nissan is all set to strike the sedan segment to disturb the sales of current rulers such as Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Ford Fiesta , Toyota Etios etc.. There are many pictures and videos of these spy shots of the Nissan Sunny which are making rounds on various automobile websites and forums. The Nissan Micra based sedan Sunny is most likely to be named different than Sunny as Bajaj already has this name for one of its scooter it sold in past.
Nissan Sunny is expected to get officially launched during the second half of 2011 whereas the new MPV which is to compete Toyota Innova is likely to enter the market by 2012.
So for the moment we are concentrating on Sunny which is built on the V-platform and shares it with Nissan Micra. The new sedan will be powered by a 1500 CC MPFI petrol engine producing 100 BHP of maximum power and along with this variant a CRDi diesel one will also be introduced.
Hopes are high for this car to be a hit in the market and help the brand firm its roots as Micra has missed to make its mark as a high selling small car unlike the competitors like Figo, Polo, Beat and i10 which are doing considerably better in small car segment.
We will keep you posted on the new developments of the Nissan Sunny Sedan as they are revealed.
