Suzuki Alto aka Maruti A-Star Recalled In Europe For Tail Light Problem

Suzuki Motor Corporation sells its car Alto in Europe. The European Alto is equivalent of the Indian Maruti Suzuki A-Star which is manufactured in India and exported world over. Few months back there was a recall of Maruti A-Star by Maruti and Nissan which sells the same car as Nissan Pixo.

Suzuki has recalled 10 thousand Alto (Indian Maruti A-Star) in Europe because of problem which causes the tail lamps to become un-functional. Maruti has exported over 1 lakh A-Star cars in last financial year. Few months back another problem was reported with some of the A-star cars related to the Fuel Leakage for which about 1 Lakh cars were recalled.

It is comparatively safe for car companies to recall and fix the problems before these problems cause a threat to the safety of the passengers.

  1. Hi guys Its only for Europe and Indians need not worry.. also the europe suzuki Alto (A Star for us) is automatic variant which we Indians don’t have in our market

  2. Maruti will launch A Star automatic in a few more days. A STar has stunning 19 kmpl and expect the automatic to give 17 kmpl. Also, A Star has short turning radius and refined K series engine. With automatic, A Star will be the easiest small car to drive in India

  3. Our Maruti A Star Vxi caught fire by itself on the Road. The car was standing on a signal light, suddenly it caught fire under the bonnet & the car burnt completely. There is some serious problem ( manufacturing fault or servicing fault by the service dealer). The car registration number was DL9CL 4858. Place: New Delhi, India.
    Date of incident: 27.11.2010.
Till now maruti has not replied & informed the cause of fire after the inspection by their team.
It happened in two days after we received it after regular servicing from Authorised dealer M/s Apra Auto India Pvt Ltd, F-85, Okhla Phase-1, New Delhi. Territory Service Manager from MSIL visited & inspected the vehicle, but not shared reports with us. We request Maruti to look into the matter & try to find out reason forb the same, as it is very unsafe to use Maruti Vehilcles.
