All the cars which were displayed at the Auto Expo were electrically motored namely- Renault Megane, Renault Megane V6 trophy car, Renault twizzy, Renault Koleos, Renault Laguna, Renault Logan, Renault F1 car. To make the Renault’s pavilion the centre of attraction at the 2010 Auto Expo, this brand also displayed the Renault F1 car and the Renault Megane V6 trophy car which were quite popular among the visitors. Renault also showcased its Hybrid concept car The Twizzy which proved to be the showstopper at the pavillion. Out of all these cars Renault intends to sell two cars specially in India – Laguna SUV and Koleos Coupe.

The price of a Segway device starts around $5000 USD, which is a bit high as per Indian standards. This is so because Segway is a sophisticated intelligent device works using high precision balancing mechanism which lets it balance itself on the two wheels only. The material and batteries used in it also add to the cost.

I saw this device at the Auto Expo 2010 at Pragati Maidan in January 2010. The handling of the device is super simple with accelerator, brakes and steering all through the handle bar. There are no sophisticated balancing mechanism involved as its a 4 wheeled platform which is inherently balanced.

It does not match the standards of the Segway, but considering the utility of this device, its not that bad either for just 10% of the cost of a Segway. You may call it a cheap Segway alternative.

Royal Enfield is also known for its unique brake and gear pedal arrangement which made driving difficult for all those people who were  not familiar with this type of inverse arrangement. But to answer this, a few months back Royal Enfield came out with the conventional break and gear pedal arrangement which is seen in every other bike, thus making it more convenient to ride.

This year at the 2010 Auto Expo, the company had a very attractive stall with a lot of bikes to see and many of them really blew away the visitors, like the Bullet Classic 350 , Classic 500,  Battle Green 500 , Bullet 500 chrome and the Cafe Racer concept.

Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350

The 350cc bullet is the classic one and popular with its black color and has a single cylinder 4 stroke engine with a displacement of 346cc pumping a maximum 18BHP @5000 rpm and a maximum torque of 32Nm@ 3000rpm. It has a 4 speed(right foot gear shift) and can touch the mark of 100 kmph when throttled fully.

Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 500

Setting this bike apart from the other is its 500cc engine, a striking single colored appearance giving it a more authentic Vintage look and  hand painted pin stripes. It has a 5-speed transmission, 7” double leading shoe front brake and dual seat further distinguish this model from the rest. The ride quality and speed are the other aspects which this bike is improved with.
