BMW India Overtakes Mercedes Benz India In Sales

BMW has overtaken Mercedes Benz India in sales of luxury cars. With a sales figure of over 6246 luxury cars sold in the year 2010 compared to the total number of cars sold by Mercedes Benz which stands at 5819, BMW is India’s number 1 luxury car maker. This is second time in a row, year 2009 and year 2010 when BMW has let Mercedes behind in sales numbers. These two brands are usually neck to neck with each other and the difference between the sales numbers however is not very high. To mark this success story for BMW, the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series have played a major role with sales number of 2432 and 2403 cars respectively which accounts for a total of about 77% of the total BMW cars sold in India in the year 2010. The total increase in the sales of BMW cars in India compared to the sales in the year 2009 has been 73% which is a phenomenal growth in sales for a luxury car maker in a price sensitive economy like India. There is good news for all the BMW enthusiasts, the newer version of BMW 5-Series will be launched as early as April end in India. So, all those who were planning to buy a BMW, the wait is over. This has come as a pleasant surprise for the market analysts, as the Indian version will be launched just a few months after the European version. The new sixth-generation BMW offers a host of new features and technology like, longer wheelbase (2968mm), an optional 40:20:40 split folding rear seats. The latest offering also has 520 litres of boot space. New BMW 5 Series 2010 Specifications The latest offering from BMW will be launched with three CRDI diesel engines and four MPFI petrol engines. The Geneva Motor Show 2010 is from 4th to 14th March 2010 and most of the Global majors are busy presenting their new concept cars ahead of the expo in order to make the mass aware of what the brand are going to showcase at the show. Rumors were already in air about the car which fits in a segment in between 5-Series Sedan and 5-Series Touring.
