In the month of January 2012 Honda SIEL India reported sales of 1,784 units only during the month of January 2012. In the same month in 2011, Honda SEIL sold a total of 6358 car units, which means that there is a total sales drop of over 71% compared to the same period last year. Honda SIEL will bring Honda Brio Diesel Small car in India as early as the end of 2012 to tap the tremendous small diesel engined cars demand in India. The information has been revealed by a Honda Spokesperson in an email response. Honda had earlier also mentioned that they are working on small displacement diesel engines development which will power their small cars. Honda SIEL India December 2011 Sales Drop By 79% Because Of Production Supply Chain Problems

Honda SIEL India is going though a very tough face of supply chain constrains because of floods in Thailand. The production of cars in Indian plants are badly affected because of part shortage, because of which the cars are not being assembled as per the plant capacities and demand. The fresh booking for most Honda cars are not being received by the Honda Dealers in India. In the wake of above situation, Honda SIEL managed to deliver just 1072 cars in the month od December 2011 compared to sales of 5135 cars in December 2010. Honda Brio Production Comes To Complete Halt In India

Honda SIEL India is not able to continue with the production of the Honda Brio small car in India because of the shortage of critical components which were sourced from its Thailand plant. The Thai plant of Honda has been severely flooded and the production has stopped there. The situation at Thailand plant of Honda still seems to be not good, so it may take a couple of months before things get back to normal. Till then, Honda is working on sourcing the components from other markets or plants so that the production can start again.
