Premier Rio, the first real compact SUV of India has just got itself a facelift in its real avatar. The Premier Rio is the Zoyte Nomad in China and it has just got iself a facelift with the 2013 Premier Rio New Model launched in Chinese market. The car now gets a nice mid life refresh which distinguishes the car from its earlier avatar and the refresh is carried on to the interiors of the car as well. The car remains bog similar to its earlier iteration in the mechanical department.
Premier has been testing the Premier Rio with the popular 1.3 Litre Fiat Multi-jet Diesel engine for last few months and the car is finally in the showrooms and deliveries begin on 2nd August 2012. The same engine does the duty in many popular cars in India including the Maruti Swift, Swift Dzire, Fiat Punto, Tata Vista etc. to name a few. Premier India is testing a 6 seater MPV from China called the Zotye Multiplan Langyue. This MPV is sold in Chinese market and Premier India plans to introduce the same in the 6 seater version in India soon. The popular Premier Rio compact SUV sold in India by premier is also based on Nomad SUV from Zoyte only. The Multiplan Langyue is sold in China in both 5 seater and 6 seater configuration however the Indian market is expected to get the 6 seats options only. We have posted a couple of news on the most affordable compact SUV yet, the Premier Rio, and not so surprisingly many of our readers have liked the same for its low cost. Premier initially could not get the required attention with the launch of Premier Rio but the 2012 Premier Rio is a bit more promising that its predecessor and has managed to bring the brand in the limelight(we are not talking about sales here). Most importantly now the company has a BS IV equipped Rio which could be sold in the 13 major cities where BS IV norms are under implementation.
