Skoda holds a very strong and important share in the automobile market and one of the model that actually helped it rise from nothing was Skoda Octavia. It was the best selling model for the brand and clocked enormous sales. Now that the car is no longer in production because of the BS IV norms implementation, we really miss it and for one long year it was being speculated that the Skoda Rapid will fill the gap of Octavia, however it turned out to be an all new model. But we are glad to hear that Skoda is planning to bring the Octavia brand back next year. At the 2012 Auto Expo, Winfried Vahland, Chairman, Board of Management for Skoda Auto stated that he likes the name Octavia and assured that next year they will bring it back. image – Skoda Octavia RS As per speculations the company will replace the Laura brand with Octavia brand name which it thinks is fair from the market point of view. At the 2012 Auto Expo, Skoda showcased a number of products all of which exist in the Indian market but apart from these there were two cars which grabbed most of the eyeballs. We are talking about the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo and Skoda RS 2000 Concept car. Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo The Fabia Monte Carlo is a special edition Fabia with extra features and accessories that one would always desire for. The car has a 1197 CC turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 105 BHP @ 5000 RPM of max power and 175 Nm @ 4100 RPM of peak torque. Skoda and drivers of Skoda Fabia Super 2000s have been officially awarded the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) champion honours. Skoda dominated the Manufacturers category for the second consecutive year and Andreas Mikkelsen in a Fabia Super 2000 won the Drivers’ category. Second and third places were also taken by Fabia drivers – Jan Kopecký and Juho Hänninen. Furthermore, Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula of Red Bull SKODA won the first-ever World Championship title for SKODA in the SWRC category.
