Tata is definitely working on an a new project that has been spotted on the roads of Pune yet again. Two months back, in November 2011 the test mule was first spotted and recently the Tata Indica based mysterious project has been caught being tested once again. What is so interesting and mysterious about the new car is its rear end which is expected to be very different. From the front it resembles the Indica but looking at the rear, the car tells a different story. image – Tata Indica XL Test Mule The vehicle is being called as Tata Indica XL and is expected to be launched in the market during the second half of 2012. Tata Motors Sells Record Number Of Passenger Vehicles In January 2012

Tata Motors India has its best ever sales number for passenger vehicles in the month of January 2012. The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution off-take of 36,770 nos. (34,669 Tata + 2,101 Fiat) in the domestic market in January 2012, higher by 14% compared to 32,386 nos. (30,212 Tata + 2,174 Fiat) in January last year. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles for January 2012 are at 34,669 nos., a growth of 15% over 30,212 nos., sold in January last year, and highest ever for any month. image – Tata Nano Small Car India Sales of the Tata Nano small car were 7,723 nos., higher by 15%, compared to 6,703 nos., sold in January, last year. The Tata Indica range sales were 11,534 nos., higher by 9%, over 10,591 nos., sold in January, last year. The Tata Indigo range recorded sales of 9,272 nos., higher by 10%, over 8,456 nos., sold in January, last year. Do you remember the Land Rover DC100 concept car that was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo? Well here is an interesting news on the same. As being reported by Autocar.co.uk, Land Rover is planning to build the 2015 Land Rover Defender SUV at Tata’s manufacturing headquarters in Pune. Most probably the models to be sold in European markets will be sent back to Britain where the final assembly will take place, and is termed as “reverse CKD operation” as per the firm. This does not come as a surprise since the British major currently produces the Land Rover Freelander in India and exports it to other Asian markets. Tata Motors Global Sales Grew 27% In December 2011

The Tata Motors Group global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover, were 114,920 nos., in December 2011, higher by 27% over December 2010. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 865,400 higher by 12% compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11 as per the official sales report. image – Tata Sumo Gold for Illustration only Global sales of all commercial vehicles – Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range — were 53,854 nos. in December 2011, a growth of 12%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 425,264 nos., a growth of 17%. Global sales of all passenger vehicles were at 61,066 nos. in December 2011, higher by 45%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 440,136 nos., higher by 8%. Tata Motors has been working on an Automatic transmission version of Tata Aria for quite some time now. Tata motors has showcased the Aria automatic at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi India. The car is same in dimension as the manual Aria and has a 6 speed G-85 automatic transmission system with a torque capacity of 450 Nm. Aria Automatic is powered by the same 2.2 Litre CRDI Engine with 156 PS of peak power and 400 Nm of torque.
