Future Volkswagen MQB Platform Unveiled– All VW Cars To Be Built On This Platform

Generally we talk about new cars or new variants getting unveiled but today we will talk about the next generation platform for future Volkswagen cars. Volkswagen, one of the biggest automobile manufacturer, yesterday unveiled an all new platform named as MQB which will be adopted probably in all the models being sold globally. This platform is really interesting and the future models of most of its current models including Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat etc., will be built on the same. Volkswagen Entering World Rally Championship (WRC) By End Of March 2011

The World Rally Championship(WRC) organized by FIA is the the world most anticipated rally championship every year and has a tremendous fan following. Each year the end of the championship results in a champion driver along with a champion manufacturer, whereas other rallies either culminate with a manufacturer or a driver. So in a way this championship is quite unique and does attract a lot of fans not just because of the word rally but for the variety of terrains and difficulties these drivers drive through. This rigorous 13 three-day race tests the driver’s skill on surfaces ranging from snow & ice to gravel and tarmac. The cars contesting for the rally are the ordinary two-litre four-cylinder ones but tweaked in unusual ways with turbochargers, anti-lag systems, four wheel drive, sequential gearboxes(paddle shift), aerodynamic parts shooting up their cost to around $1 million. Apart from luxurious sedans like Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat and flagship Volkswagen Phaeton, the brand till date has not shown its potential when it comes to mid-size sedans falling under 10 lakh INR,suiting the pocket of the Indian customer, and has offered small cars like the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Golf. As we all know the market demands affordable sedans like the Maruti Swift DZire which cost less, perform well and most importantly deliver good mileage.
