Toyota Rush Compact SUV India Launch In 2016?

4

The Toyota Rush compact SUV has been spotted in our country. However, in all probability, this model isn’t India-bound.

Seen here on this page is the first ever spy image of the Toyota Rush compact SUV, which was spotted by Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Pramod Mhaskar, near Kolhapur, Maharashtra earlier this year. The Rush compact SUV is on sale in Indonesia, where it comes equipped with a 1.5-litre, four cylinder, petrol engine that produces 107.5 bhp of maximum power and 141 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual. It is being said that the Toyota Rush compact SUV is India bound and the launch of Toyota’s compact SUV could happen in middle-2016. Here, in this post, we have put together all the Toyota Rush compact SUV India launch details.

As we just said, the Toyota Rush is powered by a petrol engine in Indonesia and quite obviously, this engine has really low chances of making it to us. Instead, the India-spec Toyota Rush is likely to be powered by a low-capacity diesel engine. If and when launched in India, the Rush will lock horns with the likes of Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. Currently, the only SUV in Toyota’s product portfolio is the highly successful Fortuner, which retails for upwards of INR 25 lakhs. Hence, a lesser-priced global product such as the Rush compact SUV should enable a mass-market player like Toyota to capture more volumes in India.
