Check out the expected launch date, price, features, and specs of the speculated Bajaj Avenger 400. Various rumors regarding its development are going around. We expect it to launch by this year-end or early 2019. Read ahead to get more details.
Bajaj Avenger is one of the most popular cruisers around town with its grunty engine and throw-away prices. It is the cheapest cruiser series in India. Currently, Dominar 400 is the most powerful Bajaj bike. However, it does not qualify as a proper cruiser. For that, we expect the Bajaj Avenger 400 to launch in India. Various rumors are around regarding its launch, and we expect the launch by year-end or early 2019. It might come in the Street series or the Cruise series, which is not sure yet. There won’t be many features like the 220cc Avenger bikes, but we can expect ABS on this bike. We expect it to be priced around Rs 1.4 Lakhs, cheaper than the Dominar 400. Also, there would not be any design changes on the new bike. Read ahead to get more details.
|Launch Date||December 2018|
A recent report from Autocar Professional states that the upcoming Avenger model will launch in December 2018. So far, the company hasn’t been too vocal about the launch date of the most powerful version of its cruiser motorcycle. However, we will update you with concrete information on the launch date as soon as there is an official announcement regarding the same.
|Minimum||Rs 1.4 Lakh|
|Maximum||Rs 1.6 Lakh|
The Pune-based motorcycle company has always made it a point to price its models really very competitively. We saw the Dominar 400 going on sale at an almost astonishingly low price of around Rs 1.34 lakh. Now, it seems like its the Avenger’s turn to surprise everyone. We are expecting the new model Avenger to go on sale in Rs 1.4 – 1.6 lakh price bracket.
|Engine||373.2 cc, single-cylinder|
|Maximum Power||34 PS (Expected)|
|Maximum Torque||36 NM (Expected)|
|No. of Cylinders||1|
|No. of Gears||6|
The upcoming 2018 Avenger 400 will share its engine with the Dominar 400. However, we do expect the company to re-tune the engine to suit the cruiser-bike characteristics of the Avenger. For the Dominar, this KTM-sourced 373.3cc single-cylinder engine outputs a maximum power of 35 PS along with a peak torque of 35 Nm. The upcoming new Avenger model, in all likelihood, will offer marginally lesser power but slightly higher torque. For the Avenger 400, this engine is likely to output 34 PS and 36 Nm. The motor will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The motorcycle will get wider tyres, conventional long-travel telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. ABS might be offered as an optional extra.

The Bajaj Avenger 400 is likely to offer a fuel mileage of up to 28 KMPL on the highway. In the city-riding conditions, the average mileage could drop to as low as 24 KMPL.
|Kerb Weight||159 kgs|
|Ground Clearance||169 mm|
The Avenger 400 will not be any bigger than the current Avengers. It will measure 2210 mm in length, 806 mm in width and 1142 mm in height. It will get a wheelbase of 1490 mm with a ground clearance of 169 mm.
The upcoming motorcycle is likely to be based on the Cruise trim of the motorcycle. That said, it will likely look a lot more premium than the 220cc version. We are impressed with the design of the Dominar 400, which looks like a watered-down version of the Ducati Diavel. Bajaj might come up with something equally attractive and neo-modern with the Avenger 400. One thing that is for sure is that the motorcycle will have a cruiser body type. We might even see bits like a round headlamp with LED fixtures, which will give the motorcycle a neo-retro look.
It might come in two variants, which are as follows:
If the Avenger 400 comes in cruise variant, it will come in Moon White and Autumn Black colors. However, if it comes in the Street Variant, it will come in Matt White and Matt Black colors.
In India, it will continue to compete with the Royal Enfield bikes like the Classic, Bullet and the Thunderbird series. Also, UM Renegade Commando and the upcoming Benelli Imperiale 400 will take on the Avenger 400.
