2020 Mercedes GLE Coupe Unveiled; India Launch Expected Soon

The new-gen GLE Coupe packs similar design like that of the standard SUV. But gets the sloping roofline and adds some weight to the rear giving an overall stunning design.

The Coupe like body style is fascinating to people and Mercedes understands this statement to a mark. This is why the 2020 Mercedes GLE Coupe has been revealed ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show and we expect the SUV to mark its territory in India soon.

The GLE coupe shares its underpinnings with the regular GLE SUV but differs a lot in terms of dimensions. It is 15 mm longer and 63 mm broader. The cabin inside is shorter because of the short wheelbase which is 60 mm shorter than the standard version. Although, when compared to the previous generation, the wheelbase is 20 mm longer.

The GLE Coupe comes in two engine options – power-packed petrol and diesel engine tuned to two different states

Now talking about the design of the Coupe then no doubt that all through the A-pillar it looks exactly like the standard GLE. Well, except those changes at the headlamps and the grille upfront.

Aesthetically, the Coupe looks more dominating than the GLE and it does look it has put on more weight. And I say that on a good note. The Coupe stands tall with the sloping roofline that ends at the rear profile. The spoiler at the rear gives it a sporty appearance along with the sleek taillights which are slimmer than its predecessor. Also, the chrome strip has taken a step back, earlier it used to come above the taillights.

The wheels get an upgrade and now comes with a choice of 19-inches to 22-inches. Also with the large diffusers, chrome strips on the window lines and body kits, the Coupe gives a stunning look.

The interiors of the Coupe gets the same standard fitment like the GLE SUV. It gets twin 12.3-inch screens followed by the same dashboard design and a raised centre console. The Nappa leather steering wheel and sports seats.

Under the hood, the Coupe gets 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engines which gets tuned to two states. The 350d model puts out 272 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque while the other 400d churns out 330bhp along with 700 Nm of peak torque.

The more powerful, the GLE 53 Coupé, comes with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with 435hp and 520Nm of torque. It also comes with the air-suspension, active steering, active braking assist, and electronic body control. All models of GLE comes with 4matic, all-wheel-drive system as standard.

As of now, there is no news on when the cars will go on sale but we expect it to come into its buyer’s garage by next year. And we expect the India launch of the 2020 Mercedes GLE Coupe to happen next year.
