Bridgestone called as the no.1 in tyre and rubber manufacturing is all set to expand its business to India. In one of the recent event this Japanese tyre company made announcement about its plans of manufacturing truck and bus radial(TBR) in India, keeping in mind the growth of demand in the country. The country is expanding in terms of road infrastructure and expressways and in order to meet all this the company will provide India with TBR.
The company is planning to expand its operation for the production of TBR in its Indore plant which was is currently dedicated to the production of tyres for passenger cars and light trucks and the cost for this expansion is expected to be $36.7 million with the production to commence from the first half of 2011. The words coming from the M.D, H. Tanigawa say that India has an unlimited potential and is growing at a fast rate. The current production of the Indore plant is nearly 15000 units a day and once the expansion is over the plant will be able to produce 400 units a day of TBR. The result of the expansion will generate employment for 200 people which is a good sign.
The 12 year old Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh is also to be expanded with a project estimate of $56.3 million to boost auto and light truck tyre capacity, eventually increasing the output to 15000 units a day.
