Hyundai is yet to officially launch the game changing Hyundai Eon in India on 13 of October 2011 in India. The Eon is a small engine 800 CC car, all the details Hyundai EON already revealed though various sources. Recently the Hyundai Eon Brochure has also been revealed partially. Recently there were leaked pictures of Hyundai Santro, Hyundai Eon and Hyundai i10 parked side by side at some dealership or stockyard shared by user puneetghai1978 on the Team-BHP forum. In this article, we will share these leaked images with you and compare these three cars against each other visually.
Before we go on to the detailed comparison, below are the dimensions of these three cars:
From the dimensions, its quite evident that in terms of length, both i10 and Santro stand at equal length, while the Eon is 100 mm or 10 cm smaller in length. This is an advantage in terms of parking space and congested traffic movement, but in terms of interior space and boot space, it comes as a disadvantage. In terms of width, the Eon is slightly Wider than Santro, which is a good thing as it can more comfortably accommodate tree adults at rear because of wider space on inside., however, its less in width than the i10 which is justified since i10 costs more compared to an Eon.
When it comes to height, Santro is tallest in height with 1590 mm height, followed by i10 at 1550 and Eon at 1500 mm. But the seating height and head room also depends on seat height with respect to ground level, so we won’t consider it the criterion for the headroom.

In terms of front fascia, Hyundai Eon resembles Hyundai i10 quite a lot and looks very different from the Santro. The Hyundai i10 Next Gen is a fluidic sculpture design with sharp eye like headlamp design, sleek two part grille, triangular fog lamp design, larger and smoother curve on the front windshield merging smoothly into the roof of the car. Also there are visible bulging wheel arches which give it a wide look. On the other hand Santro looks more boxy, with more angular merging of the roof with front windshield. Also the head lamps are kind of rectangular in shape. The grille is very different from the i10 and Eon. In terms of front view, Eon looks as beautiful as an i10 and way too modern and stylish compared to a Santro.

From rear, the Hyundai i10 looks larger compared to the Santro and Eon, however, the rear visibility seems to be best with the Santro with large rear windshield area. The looks of Santro are simple from rear with the tail lamps adding subtle styling to it. The rear is a typical tall boy look with high ground clearance and station wagon kind of appeal.
Hyundai i10 looks more elegant with nicely wrapped around tail lamps, and fairly large windshield rear for a good rear view from inside rear view mirror. Also the bumper of i10 is more stylish with integrated reflector inserts on both sides which make it looks different.
Hyundai Eon looks like a shrunk version of the i10 with the windshield getting smaller, tail lamps squeezed and moving up to the rear spoilers, which looks very sporty on a small cute car like Eon. From the rear, Eon has a good visual appeal as well.

Looking at the front fascia of both Hyundai i10 and Eon, there seems to be an instant resemblance in looks. Eon truly looks like a younger sibling of the i10 with same kind of curves, similar looking headlamps and same chrome strip on the top grille with Hyundai Logo on the middle.

Rear of the i10 and Eon is vastly different unlike the front The Windshield shape on Eon is wider towards the top with curve towards the lower side and the tail lamps merge up to the rear spoiler giving it’s a very unique and sporty look in this segment. The rear bumper of Eon is also very different from i10, all in all, both look quite different from each other from rear with Eon being more sport because of the tall and curvy tail lamp design.

Hyundai Eon looks one generation ahead of Hyundai Santro with its modern styling, more fluidic, curvy and aerodynamic structure, attractive looks and its more pleasing to eyes as well.

The rear spoiler has a high mounted stop lamp integrated into it, the rear hatch door also has a chrome logo of Hyundai with Eon marked in chrome which also look upmarket.

There is a parcel tray to keep teeny-weeny stuff behind the rear seat from inside the cabin. Having a parcel tray also keeps the luggage in the boot hidden from on-lookers which helps to keep it safe when parked in a solitary place.
image – Hyundai Eon Boot Space
The boot space on Hyundai Eon is not too impressive in terms of volume, but for city commuters, it won’t be a big trouble as the seat can be dropped in there is high luggage need, however, the boot loading height may be problem for putting heavy stuff in car’s boot.

The Engine of the Eon is the downsized variant of the iRDE engine which powers the Hyundai i10 1.1 Litre Petrol engine variants.
image – Hyundai Eon Interiors
Hyundai Eon’s interiors are also better in quality and aesthetics when compared with the Hyundai Santro, however, these are inspired by Hyundai i10 and come very close it it in terms of quality and equipment levels, however, considering the price bracket of the Eon, it would not offer as much features as the Hyundai i10 does.
All in all, Hyundai Eon is all set to take on its competition, especially Maruti Alto is the closest competitor and its sales are most likely to be impacted when Eon come to road.
