Yamaha makes some of the most stunning looking bikes in India and Yamaha R15 version 2.0 is one of its most attractive looking bikes around which is easily visible on Indian roads. In a recently organized design awards called the India Design Mark (I Mark) awards program which were was organized by Indian Design Council with the cooperation of the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, organizers of Japanโs Good Design Award (G Mark) Yamaha R15 won I Mark Award. Among the 71 applicants for this award, 31 were awarded the I Mark award, the R15 is one of the 4 products from Japan based companies to receive this award.
The design of Yamaha R15 is quite different from normal 150 CC commuter bikes which we have in Indian in abundance. The R15 is more racing inspired from its more powerful sibling R1 which is a sports motorcycle with full strength and power of a racer. The design elements of R15 make it look distinct and much more premium which is why the price of the R15 is much premium compared to the normal 150 CC segment bikes in India. The R15 is one of the most popular motorcycles from Yamaha Indiaโs stable and is very popular among biking enthusiasts for its high performance, precise handling and sharp braking capabilities which inspire confidence in the rider. It does look like a machine which is meant for a track but works well on roads pretty well too.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & MD, India Yamaha Motor said,
โI am very pleased with this recognition that our flagship bike YZF-R15 has received. The bike which was introduced in 2008 has witnessed tremendous fan following and the upgraded version launched in 2011 only added more to an already great performing bike. This award not just realizes our efforts but also motivates us to continue creating more new and innovative products.โ
The four products from three Japan-based companies that won the I Mark award this time are all products manufactured in India, and although they are the products of foreign companies, they received the India Design Mark (I Mark) award because of the recognition they have won in the Indian market. The primary purpose of the I Mark award program is to increase design awareness and promote value of design in the industry and society, to raise the demand for good design from users and manufacturers and improve the overall quality of life by encouraging good design. The award recipients are recognized for outstanding design that meets these criteria.
