Toyota Vios India launch might take place in September; Spied testing in India on a couple of occasions
The Indian subsidiary of Japanese automobile giant Toyota has no representation in the segment between the Toyota Etios Sedan and Toyota Corolla Altis. To fill this void in its model line up, the company might be planning to bring in the Toyota VIOS. The C2 segment, in which the Vios will be launched in, has seen more than a decade long monopoly of Honda City, but things might change with the advent of the new model. The Toyota VIOS is a hit in Thailand, all thanks to its clean and trendy looks, efficient motors and high reliability. Toyota has always been known for its quality and will sure attract the customers in this segment as well. The car measures more than 4.4m in length, hence liberal leg room is an additional bonus.

Toyota Vios India Launch Details
It has been almost a year since rumours of Toyota Vios India launch first surfaced on the cyber space. However, so far, Toyota Kirloskal Motor (TKM) hasn’t announced any plans of bringing the Vios to our soil. Nothing’s for sure, but a recent report states that the Toyota Vios India launch could happen in September 2017, which means the car is more than a couple of years away from us.
If and when bought to India, the Vios would be priced at par with most C2-segment sedans like the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. As we said earlier, in Toyota’s product portfolio for India, the car will find itself slotted between the Etios and the Corolla Altis, both of which have been doing fairly well in their respective segments. With the advent of the Vios, TKM will be full the sole void in its sedan line-up, which also includes the Camry at its upper-end.
Powering the Vios sedan is a 1.5-litre, normally aspirated petrol engine that makes a maximum power of 107.5 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 141 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic unit.
Akin to almost every C2 sedan sold in India, the Vios gets features like an integrated audio player, dual front airbags, ABS, internally adjustable ORVMs, dual-tone interior, leather upholstery, multi-functional steering wheel, et al.
The Vios measures 4,410 mm in length, is 1,700 mm wide and is 1,475 mm high. The Vios’ wheelbase, at 2,550 mm, is identical to that of the Etios sedan. The Vios tips the scales at 1,075 kilos.
