Hyundai Motor India Chief Operating Officer, Mr Tarun Garg recently mentioned in an interview that in the last 14 months, the Korean automaker sold 1,400 units of the Ioniq 5. This averages out to an impressive 100 units per month. Those are some pretty healthy numbers for a premium EV which costs Rs 45.95 lakh, ex-showroom. He also mentioned that Hyundai has announced an investment of Rs 26,000 Crore in its Chennai plant towards capacity expansion, new models and battery-pack localization. It will help bring down battery costs which, in turn, will allow Hyundai to introduce more BEVs from 2025.
