The facelift bears a few key design changes, along with the addition of some new in-cabin amenities
The 2026 MG Hector facelift and Hector Plus facelift have been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom. We know that Hector is a special product for MG by virtue of being the first MG car to launch in our market back in 2019. Even back then, it was technologically among the most advanced SUVs in its class. Over the years, MG has built a reputation for offering the most features and tech in all of its models in each segment. The new Hector facelift carries that approach forward. Let us check out what’s new in the facelift.
2026 MG Hector Facelift vs Old Model – Design
The most visible change to any facelift is generally on the outside and the new MG Hector is no different. In fact, the new model now features a colossal Aura Hex grille, which steals the entire limelight. The chrome embellishments further enhance its road presence. I suspect it could be a bit too much for some. Apart from that, the chrome components are neatly integrated underneath the LED DRLs on the edge of the bumper. The main LED headlamp cluster is located on the sides of the bumper. I particularly like the lower section with a chrome frame around what appears to be a sturdy accessory to the bumper.
The bling continues onto the side profile, too. This includes areas like the chrome belt underneath the window frame, elegant dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, distinct elements on the door panels, black side pillars and faux roof rails. Note that the overall silhouette closely resembles the outgoing model. Finally, the rear end contains a unique roof-mounted spoiler, a massive connected LED taillamp with attractive LED patterns, Hector lettering on the boot lid, a solid bumper with a rugged skid plate and a reflector light covering the entire width. Overall, the new Hector carries a slightly tweaked design philosophy from the existing model.

2026 MG Hector Facelift vs Old Model – Specs
This is one area which remains totally unchanged in comparison to the outgoing model. The new MG Hector and Hector Plus facelifts are available with two powertrain options – 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel. These engines are good for 143 PS / 250 Nm and 170 PS / 350 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties with the petrol is the 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic, while the diesel version will get the manual too. What is interesting to see is whether or not the diesel mill is offered with an automatic transmission going forward.

The top variants are similar, which indicates a price difference of Rs 50,000 between the 5-seat and 7-seat versions. The MG SHIELD car ownership program and the 3+3+3 package offer peace of mind for owners.

My View
Now, the new MG Hector facelift is certainly better equipped and more stylish than the outgoing model. Interestingly, MG is not charging a massive premium over the pre-facelift model, which is quite impressive. Buyers who want a relatively large SUV with tons of new-age tech and convenience amenities could definitely consider the new MG Hector and Hector Plus. Still, the competition in this space is extremely stiff and there are numerous options.
