35 Tata Nexon and Punch Sold Every Hour in H1 2023

After a slowdown in the pandemic, the Indian auto sector is showing remarkable growth. 20,11,062 vehicles were sold in the first half of 2023. This includes the highest average monthly sales (3,35,177 units) in history. The healthy growth in the Indian auto sector can be attributed to an improved supply chain for car components. There is also an increased demand for passenger vehicles. Tataโ€™s SUV lineup has been a huge success in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki Continues its Maruti Dominance

Lately, there has been a huge demand for passenger vehicles in the Indian market. Currently, 46% market share of PVs is held by SUVs and crossovers. Meanwhile, hatchbacks hold a 33% market share. Almost 70% of the PV sector is captured by Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata. Maruti Suzuki WagonR was the best-selling model in the first half of 2023. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,09,278 units. The company also sold 1,04,465 and 1,00,107 units of the Swift and Baleno hatchbacks, respectively.

Tata Nexon, Tata Punch Sales

In H1 2023, Tata Motors sold over 1.54 lakh units of the Tata Nexon and Tata Punch sub-4 metre SUVs. Tata Nexon was the top-selling SUV with sales of 87,501 units. On the other hand, the Tata Punch sold 67,117 units in the first half of 2023. It secured the fourth position among the top-selling SUVs. The second and third positions were held by Hyundai Creta and Maruti Brezza which sold 82,566 units and 82,185 units, respectively.

Tata Punch recently received the iCNG version, which features the signature dual-cylinder technology.

Now, Tata Motors plans to launch an updated version of Nexon. It is expected to be based on the Curvv concept. The new 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will be powered by a new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine option. For transmission, it is expected to come with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The company also plans to launch a CNG version of Tata Punch. The new micro SUV is likely to borrow the dual-cylinder CNG technology from Tata Altroz.
