The refreshed Hyundai Creta has a Tucson-inspired front facade. It could launch here next year to take on MG Astor and Kia Seltos

The facelifted Hyundai Creta has made its debut in the Indonesian market and India could be the next destination for the popular mid-size SUV. Creta is among the highest-selling SUVs in the country for quite some time now. The current-gen model has design cues that could be a bit polarising for some. But the next-gen model might be a bit more modern and sophisticated. There are plenty of conclusions that could be drawn from the model that debut in Indonesia. So, let us get into it.

The exterior of this Creta is completely different from the one we have on sale in India at the moment. This design language is the one we see on the other Hyundai products on the international market like the India-bound latest-gen Tucson. The front fascia features an almost 3-D grille finished in glossy dark chrome with integrated LED DRLs, the LED headlamps are positioned down below on either side of the bumper, much like the current model, there is plenty of silver/aluminium finish on the skid plates to give it a more sporty feel. The side profile is almost similar to the current model.

On this inside, things get even more tech-savvy. The cabin on this version is finished in an all-black theme, but on the Indian version, there might be the option of the black and beige dual-tone interiors. Apart from that, the overall cabin layout is not too different from the current Creta either. However, there might be the introduction of ADAS features, which has started to become the norm these days with most modern cars, especially in this segment. Also, the modern connected car tech features will continue to provide convenience to the occupants.

Specs

The Hyundai Creta petrol gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that produces 115 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that also produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The third and the most exciting engine on offer is the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol T-GDI engine that produces 143 PS and 242 Nm and comes with a 7-speed DCT. The prices of the current-gen model range between Rs 10.16 lakh and Rs 17.87 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the prices of the facelifted version to be slightly higher, while the powertrain options will most likely continue.
