The test drive of the new Skoda Slavia is about to commence and the images of the exterior and interior of the base trim are out already.
The first images of the exterior and interior of the Skoda Slavia are out. These images correspond to the base model of the premium mid-size sedan, Active variant. The soon-to-be-launched sedan will replace the current-gen Rapid in our market marking the next innings of the Czech carmaker in the country. Based on the same MQB A0 IN platform as the Kushaq and VW Taigun, the Slavia has more space on the inside than the Rapid. Let us check out what these images of the base model tell us.

Skoda Slavia Active Trim – Exterior & Interior
The exterior of the base model differs from the higher trims from a couple of angles. One could easily spot the lack of fog lamps at the front, the regular steel wheels instead of the alloys also are quite evident, the headlamps are regular halogens and not the LEDs as seen on the higher variants, the rear misses out on the chrome treatment beneath the bumper and there is no electric sunroof either. These are easy giveaways with regards to which variant of the Slavia one is looking at.
The differences on the inside are even more diverse. To start with, there is no digital cockpit instrument cluster, the large touchscreen infotainment screen is missing and is replaced by a smaller unit, the AC knobs and switches are bigger with no touch-sensitive control, the components are not leather wrapped but hard plastics, there is no central armrest between the front seats, the IRVM looks regular as well. Although the overall layout remains the same, quite a few features are missing which is understandable in the base trim.

Specs
While the top trim, Style, will get the options of both 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engines, the base trim (Active) and mid-trim (Ambition) will come powered by a sole 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol making 115 PS and 175 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The base model will only have the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox with the automatic starting from the mid Ambition trim. The expected prices of the Skoda Slavia will be in the vicinity of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. The traditional rivals include the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and the upcoming Slavia-cousin, the VW Virtus (updated Vento).
