The Punjab Police was on the lookout for Amritpal Singh for leading the separatist Khalistan movement.
The incumbent leader of the Waris Panjab De (“Heirs of Punjab”) Amritpal Singh was being chased by the Police as his video of fleeing away on a Motorcycle emerges. He returned to India from Dubai in September 2022 to assume the role of a Sikh preacher and leader of the aforementioned organization. Reportedly, he has close links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and terror groups where he has allegedly received training. He is a fugitive in India which is why the Police are after him.

Amritpal Singh Flees on Motorcycle
This video has been uploaded by Hindustan Times on YouTube. It clearly shows Singh at a remote location where he gets out of a Maruti Brezza SUV and meets with some people. In the interview with the Police, it was mentioned that they had caught him in the Brezza along with 4 other accomplices. This was revealed from the CCTV footage from a toll plaza location. Thereafter, they went inside a Gurudwara where Amritpal changed his clothes.

Finally, they fled away in the Brezza. However, a video emerged where all of them were spotted on a road that looks like a village road around a residential locality. They meet with some other team members. After having some discussion, Amritpal Singh climbs on the bike and leaves. The Police have arrested the 4 accomplices but Amritpal is still absconding. The investigation is underway as the Police are working vehemently on this case due to the importance it holds.

The Police clearly mentioned that they would appreciate the efforts of the general public who could contribute to this case in any way. They recognise that Amritpal is a threat to the society at large which can potentially instigate undesirable activities causing large-scale damage to the country and the religion. Therefore, any contributions of any kind to this investigation will go a long way in preventing him from escaping the law.
