As per the official press release from Hyundai, as many as 75% Exter buyers want the sunroof variants. This is a perfect example to showcase the love affair Indian car buyers have with the feature of sunroof. Essentially, it translates to luxury, as it was a feature restricted only to some high-end luxury cars just until a few years ago. Now this feature is rather common in just about any car above the entry-level models. Exter has bagged an impressive 50,000 bookings in less than 30 days already. More than 33% bookings are for the automatic variants. Let us take a look at the details of these stats.

Hyundai Exter with Sunroof

It is interesting that carmakers are now offering sunroof even in the mid-trims of their cars. That is a direct consequence of the overwhelming demand. The main rival of the Exter, Tata Punch has also started getting sunroof now. While, we understand that people feel a sense of space inside the cabin due to a sunroof, but we struggle to find real-life applications of this feature. This is particularly true for a country like India where the temperatures are extremely high throughout the year in most states. Additionally, keeping the sunroof open even in pleasant weather conditions allows dust and pollution to enter the cabin. Hence, we are not sure if there are actually all that many use cases of this function.
