Next-Gen KTM 390 Adventure Test Unit Spotted

New pictures of the next-gen KTM 390 Adventure bike have surfaced online. The Himalayan 450 rival is expected to make a global debut in 2024.

KTM is all set to launch a new Himalayan 450 rival in the Indian market. As per recent reports, the company is ready to start production on the next-gen KTM 390 Adventure. Now, test mules of the upcoming bike have been spotted by Motored Magazine. These units seem to be the near-production units. The new images reveal several key details of the New-Gen KTM 390 Adventure. It will go against the likes of RE Himalayan 450, Yezdi Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, and the upcoming Hero Xpulse 400. Next-Gen KTM 390 Adventure Design

As you can see in the images, the next-gen KTM 390 Adventure features an off-road purpose-driven design. While the test unit is wrapped in black masking all over, you can see the wired-spoke rims, long travel suspension, a new twin-LED headlamp with integrated DRL, a single-piece seat, and a large windscreen. The front beak is also quite prominent. The company has also added knuckle guards, split-type grab rails, sporty tank shrouds, and a proper metal bash plate.

As per recent reports, the next-gen KTM 390 Adventure will borrow the latest 390 Dukeโ€™s chassis and instrument cluster. The test unit features a 21-inch front wheel with USD forks, compression, and rebound adjustment. On the other hand, the rear wheel gets a mono-shock setup along with rebound and pre-load adjustment. Both wheels get disc brakes with rear switchable ABS. it is set to compete directly with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

The upcoming bike is expected to be powered by the latest LC4c 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that outputs 45 bhp of max power and 40 Nm of peak torque. For transmission, it will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the Himalayan 450 is powered by a 452 cc BS-complaint 6-2.0 engine which offers 40.02 PS of peak power and 40 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch as standard. There also disc brakes on the front and the back.

The next-gen KTM 390 Adventure is expected to make a global debut sometime next year. While the company has not offered any official details yet, it is expected to be priced at Rs Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the Himalayan 450 comes with a starting price of Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom). While RE bikes are quite popular in the Indian market, the new Himalayan did not manage to sell the expected number of units. The KTM 390 Adventure is likely to further cut down the sales numbers. We will have to wait for the official launch to get a clear idea.
