Maruti Suzuki-badged Toyota Fortuner-2

A digital artist has come up with a pretty interesting rendition of a Suzuki-badged Toyota Fortuner. As the most popular premium 7-seater SUV of the country, the Fortuner has been a long-standing segment-king. In fact, with the discontinuation of the Ford Endeavour, buyers are left with limited options, solidifying the Fortuner’s status as the preferred choice. Leveraging their collaborative venture, Toyota and Suzuki have come up with a handful of cross-badged vehicles. Of these, the likes of Glanza have helped Toyota establish a stronger grip on the affordable crossover segment. Meanwhile, the Invicto helps Maruti Suzuki with presence in the premium MPV segment. Keeping this in mind, AUTOBICS envisions the Suzuki’s iteration of the Fortuner.

Suzuki’s Version of Toyota Fortuner

Recently surfacing on the internet, this distinct version maintains the essence of the regular Fortuner. However, the sole alteration up front bestows the SUV with a new identity. Notably, it carries a bigger grille with the Suzuki badge. The new facade is in line with the styling language observed in recent Maruti Suzuki products. The chrome-accented grille showcases a modern touch. The LED DRLs and headlamp units exude a sleek design, complemented by a robust front bumper with a prominent skid plate. Examining the side profile, the vehicle remains reminiscent of the standard Toyota Fortuner, maintaining its familiar and robust stance.

Specifications

The Fortuner is on sale with two potent engine choicesโ€”a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel. The petrol engine boasts 164 hp and 245 Nm, while the turbo-diesel impresses with 201 hp and 420 Nm (500 Nm with automatic transmission). Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or automatic. The top diesel variants offer power to all four wheels, facilitated by a dedicated 4×4 system, ensuring adept maneuvering across various terrains. The Fortuner’s ex-showroom prices span from Rs 33.43 lakh to Rs 51.44 lakh (ex-showroom).

What We Think

Maruti Suzuki has clarified that it has no plans to release its version of the Toyota Fortuner in the market. Instead, we can look forward to the upcoming next-generation model of the Fortuner itself. Launching Suzuki’s iteration of the previous-generation SUV would be impractical. Nevertheless, the digital art community continues to impress with unique creations, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful virtual concepts for various vehicles.
