Homemade Mahindra Thar 5-door

Aftermarket car modification houses often create unique vehicles and this is a prime example of that

In this latest instance, a popular vlogger showcases the homemade Mahindra Thar 5-door. We know that Mahindra recently launched the Thar Roxx in our market. It is the 5-door iteration of the regular 3-door model. The issue with the regular Thar is the lack of usable boot space and low practicality for ingress and egress. However, the larger Thar Roxx remedies all that. On top of that, the Indian auto giant has gone one step ahead and added tons of modern amenities, safety and mechanicals to make it even more capable. For now, let us stick to the specifics of this Thar.

Homemade Mahindra Thar 5-Door

The details of this case emerge from iam_hero98 on Instagram. It captures the host who gives a walkaround tour of this unique SUV. He says that while Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx, this particular version has been created in the aftermarket. Looking at it from the front informs us just how professional it looks. Perhaps, the modifier has used the old Thar to create this longer iteration. That is why we see a similar front fascia including the headlamp, clamshell bonnet and a sporty bumper.

On the sides, there are prominent wheel arches with aftermarket alloy wheels. However, it is clear that an entire section has been added behind the front door. Hence, a second-row door and a quarter glass section have been added to enhance the size of the Thar. Needless to say, the added metal will have resulted in an increase in legroom for the rear passengers, as well as the boot compartment. It is impressive how the man has been able to customize this vehicle with so much precision. One can barely know that this has been created inside a workshop and not the factory.

My View

I have come across innumerable instances of people performing aftermarket modifications on their cars. However, it is still a bit rare to design something so extensively. I must mention that most car alterations are illegal in India. Therefore, you must make sure to consult your local RTO before opting for them. Having said that, it is great to experience such creations online to see how creative car enthusiasts get. I shall keep an eye out for more such cases in times to come.
