New Maruti Ertiga Facelift Imagined

Digital artists have a knack for creating distinct iterations of familiar cars to offer unique perspectives

In this latest digital rendition, the new Maruti Ertiga hybrid looks colossal. In fact, these visuals make it look like a full-size SUV. Ertiga is the highest-selling MPV in our country in its segment. Ever since its inception back in 2012, there has never existed a worthy rival which could put a dent on its sales. That is a testament to the quality this MPV offers and people’s love for it. However, it has been a while since we have received an upgrade for the Ertiga. While that might take some time in real life, it is already available in the virtual realm.

New Maruti Ertiga Hybrid Visualized

This conceptualization stems from malvinwsetiawan on Instagram. The digital concept looks butch with a broad front end. It possesses a similar fascia as the new-gen Dzire. This includes a sleek LED headlamp cluster with integrated LED DRLs connected via a piano black panel. The lower section contains the massive grille with horizontal stripes and fog lamps on either end of the sporty bumper. I particularly liked the contours around the edges. On the sides, we get to witness black side pillars and ORVMs along with elegant and large alloy wheels. Even the shark fin antenna is visible. While the tail end is not showcased, we are able to get a glimpse with wrap-around taillamps mounted vertically. All in all, the dimensions and design look imposing.

The existing Maruti Ertiga is available in two powertrain options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the same engine with a CNG fuel option. The power and torque figures are 103 PS / 137 Nm and 88 PS / 121 Nm, respectively. Performing the transmission duties with the petrol is a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the CNG mill is on sale solely with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The MPV offers a mileage of 20.51 km/l with the manual, 20.30 km/l with the automatic and a cool 26.11 km/kg with the CNG. At present, the prices range from Rs 8.69 lakh and Rs 13.03 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View

I have always been fascinated by the creativity and imagination of digital automobile artists. They are able to expand the horizons of car enthusiasts like myself by creating a completely unique iteration of regular cars. This is a prime example of that. Ertia continues to rule the sales charts despite not having been updated for a long time. I shall keep an eye out for more details in that regard.
