Price hikes are never something customers get excited about. However, the German luxury giant is implementing it in an innovative manner
The Mercedes-Benz cars will become more expensive as part of a two-step price hike initiative. The two-stage price correction is aimed at minimizing the financial impact on the potential buyers. Moreover, the German luxury car marque has cited the fluctuating foreign exchange rates as the reason for this price hike. The first phase will be implemented from June 1, 2025, while the second phase will come into existence from September 1, 2025. Also, the potential buyers will see prices go up between Rs 90,000 and Rs 12.2 lakh, depending on the model.
Mercedes-Benz Cars Face Price Hike
Mercedes-Benz India will raise the ex-showroom prices of its cars in two steps – on June 1 and September 1, 2025. This move is due to a sharp increase in foreign exchange rates since January, which has raised the cost of imported components, especially for fully built units (CBUs). The company says it has been absorbing the higher costs so far. However, to keep its business sustainable, it now needs to pass on a small part of the cost to customers. Mercedes-Benz also says that efforts to increase local production will help reduce the overall impact.
By spreading the price hike across two dates, the company hopes to give buyers more flexibility. Customers can plan their purchase based on what suits their budget and timing. The increase will be marginal, according to the company. Mercedes-Benz says it is still committed to limiting how much of the added cost reaches the end customer. Here is the list of prices increased for every model:
Mercedes Model | Current Price | New Price | Change |
C200 | Rs 59.4 Lakh | Rs 60.3 Lakh | Rs 90,000 |
GLC300 4MATIC | Rs 76.8 Lakh | Rs 78.3 Lakh | Rs 1.5 Lakh |
E200 | Rs 79.5 Lakh | Rs 81.5 Lakh | Rs 2 Lakh |
GLE 300d 4MATIC AMG Line | Rs 99 Lakh | Rs 1.015 Crore | Rs 2.5 Lakh |
EQS SUV 450 4MATIC | Rs 1.28 Crore | Rs 1.31 Crore | Rs 3 Lakh |
GLS450 4MATIC | Rs 1.34 Crore | Rs 1.37 Crore | Rs 3.1 Lakh |
Maybach S680 | Rs 3.48 Crore | Rs 3.60 Crore | Rs 12.2 Lakh |
Minimizing Customer Impact
This step helps customers plan their purchases better, instead of facing a sudden large increase. To ease the impact, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services is offering flexible finance options. These include lower EMIs and partial ownership plans like STAR AGILITY. The company says these options will keep monthly EMI payments mostly stable. Even with the upcoming price hike, the extra cost will be small. For popular models like the GLA and GLC, the EMI increase is expected to be under Rs2,000. These offers aim to reduce the pressure on buyers’ budgets and make owning a Mercedes-Benz more manageable during this time of price change.
