Mahindra will most likely announce a new platform and the production-spec model on August 15
The next-gen Mahindra Bolero is slated to be showcased in the coming months with tons of new-age amenities. Bolero has to be the most successful moniker for the Indian automobile giant. Note that the Mahindra Bolero was first launched in India back in 2000. With over 25 years in existence, the demand is still high. Based on the ladder frame chassis, the relatively affordable SUV found millions of customers, especially from the semi-urban and rural regions of the country. Going forward, we will soon receive a modern avatar of the Bolero or Bolero Neo.
Next-Gen Mahindra Bolero
We recently came across a test mule of the near-production-ready Mahindra Bolero. Judging by the images, it is quite clear that the Indian car marque will modernize the rugged SUV to cater to the new-age customers. With Pratap Bose at the helm of affairs in the design team, we have seen some stunning SUVs from Mahindra in the past few years. These include the likes of Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, XEV 9e, and BE 6. The last two vehicles are EVs, which bear world-class appearance and tech and are slated to be global products. Hence, we can expect similarly attractive aesthetics on the new Bolero as well.
Apart from that, we know that Mahindra makes some of the most premium SUVs in its segment. This becomes clear once you step inside the aforementioned cars. These SUVs make you feel like you are sitting inside a luxury high-end product. While the Bolero might not specifically contain the top-notch tech due to cost concerns, it will most likely be a huge step up from the existing version. We can expect a decent cabin with the latest tech and convenience functionalities to pamper the occupants.
Expected Specs
At present, the Mahindra Bolero Neo draws power from the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk 100 turbo diesel mill, which generates a healthy 100 PS and 260 Nm of peak power and torque. The 5-speed manual transmission powers the rear wheels. With the next-gen model, we might see the Bolero either carry the same powertrain, or utilize the larger 2.2-litre mHawk diesel or 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol mill with the options of manual and automatic transmissions. In any case, more details will emerge in the coming weeks.
