Clearly, BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) is becoming mighty popular for the EV industry in India
Hero MotoCorp is set to introduce the VIDA VX2 with BaaS model to accelerate EV adoption in India. In the last few years, we have seen the electric two-wheeler space expand rapidly. Legacy players, as well as new startups, have grabbed a huge chunk of this segment. People are slowly embracing the EV revolution, not just in the passenger vehicle category, but also in the two-wheeler segment. With the BaaS model, things could even become more enticing for the potential buyers. Let us take a look at the details here.
Hero MotoCorp To Introduce VIDA VX2 with Baas Model
VIDA, the electric mobility brand powered by Hero MotoCorp, is introducing a game-changing way to own electric scooters in India. Starting July 1, 2025, VIDA will roll out a new subscription-based Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This model is designed to make electric two-wheelers more affordable and flexible. Instead of buying the entire scooter and battery together, customers can now choose to finance the chassis and battery separately. This reduces the upfront cost, making it easier for more people to switch to electric vehicles.
VIDA’s BaaS model comes with a “pay-as-you-go” plan. It allows customers to pick from different subscription options based on how much they ride, daily or monthly. This means users can choose a plan that fits their budget and usage needs, giving them more control over how much they spend. The service aims to make EV ownership smoother and more convenient. It removes many of the common barriers that prevent people from choosing electric vehicles. With this new model, customers can enjoy the benefits of EVs without worrying about battery costs or long-term commitments.
VIDA already has a strong network in place. Its ecosystem includes over 3,600 fast-charging stations and more than 500 service points across 100+ cities in India. This wide reach will support users who opt for the BaaS subscription, giving them access to reliable service and fast charging wherever they go. More details about the subscription plans, pricing, and features will be shared on July 1, 2025. With this move, VIDA hopes to redefine how Indians experience electric mobility, making it more affordable, flexible, and stress-free.
