The French auto giant is planning to launch the latest generation Duster in India in the coming months

In this post, we take a look at the specifics of the upcoming new Renault Duster. Remember, Duster is the SUV which gave birth to the mid-size SUV category in India back in 2012. In fact, it achieved massive success early on in our market. However, with time, the French car marque didn’t upgrade it timely and the competition rose rapidly. As a result, it was discontinued in India in 2022. Now, after a hiatus of 3 years, we will get the new-gen model soon. Let us take a look at the details here.

Upcoming New Renault Duster Spotted Testing

This post stems from babagexplorer on Instagram. The visuals capture a man who claims that he is witnessing a test mule of any car for the first time in his life. It looks like an isolated location in Ladakh. The man records the heavily camouflaged SUV from the rear, side and front. He was evidently confused about which car it actually is. His companion told him that this was the new Duster. From the silhouette, it certainly looks like it because we have already seen how the SUV looks as it has already been launched in many international markets.

The international model comes with all the latest bells and whistles to pamper the occupants. That is something that modern car buyers want from their vehicles. Hence, it boasts amenities like a chunky steering wheel with media controls, a digital driver’s display, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, AC vents with tri-arrow styling, a textured dashboard, physical HVAC controls, a rotary drive mode selector, USB ports for charging, and a roomy cabin. It also comes with a unique hexagonal steering wheel.

What is quite interesting is the fact that the model abroad is available with all sorts of powertrain and transmission alternatives. In fact, it was recently launched in Brazil, where it has a 1.6-litre SCe petrol and a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo petrol flex-fuel mill. These output 118 hp and 161 hp of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties is either a manual or a CVT automatic. However, the Indian-spec version could come with either a 1.3-litre turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill with manual and automatic gearboxes. More details will emerge in the coming days.
