mahindra xev9e be6 pack-two deliveries commence

By late July 2025, Mahindra will begin delivering the Pack 2 79 kWh versions of both the XEV 9e and BE 6. This is a definite turning point for buyers. Previously, customers could only order the 59 kWh packs. Now the 79 kWh option enters the lineup, priced at ₹26.50 L for XEV 9e and ₹23.50 L for BE 6 (ex-showroom, excluding charger and installation cost).

Big Battery, Long Range

The 79 kWh options deliver claimed ranges of 656 km (XEV 9e) and 683 km [AC2] (BE 6) under India’s MIDC cycle. That’s roughly 15-20% more than the 59 kWh variants (542 km and 557 km respectively). These numbers position both SUVs among the longest-range EVs under ₹30 L. They easily outpace rivals like the Tata Harrier EV (627 km in MIDC cycle).

But the icing on the cake here is the lifetime battery warranties for the first owners. Even post-resale, the warranties stand valid for 10 years of 2 lakh kms!

Real-world Utility:
– XEV 9e offers a 663 L boot + 150 L frunk, plus 110 cm widescreen cockpit.

Platform Note:
– Both use the INGLO skateboard with a 3‑in‑1 powertrain from Mahindra & Volkswagen collaboration.

Performance: Speed with Substance

No compromise on pace. Both SUVs use Mahindra’s INGLO platform and feature a rear-wheel-drive “three-in-one” powertrain (motor, inverter, transmission)

●      XEV 9e 79 kWh: 286 hp, 380 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 6.8 sec

●      BE 6 79 kWh: 282 hp, 380 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 6.7 sec

That’s quite quick even if you compare these EVs with cars costing a few lakhs more. [AC4] The smaller 59 kWh versions output ~231–228 hp with the same torque. For a modest price bump, Pack 2 gives you nearly 50 hp more grunt.

Charging That Keeps Pace

Both 79 kWh models support 175 kW DC fast charging (same as Pack 3) for 20 – 80% in just 20 minutes. AC charging takes around 8[AC5] .5 hours via an 11.2 kW home charger. This means long routes are worry-free. While the 59 kWh variant uses slightly lower 140 kW DC, the Pack 2 79 kWh gets equal fast‑charging capability to top trims.

Tech and Comfort: More Than Just Battery

Both SUVs are loaded with features, many only found in luxury cars costing almost twice:

●      Infotainment underpinned by Snapdragon chipset, 24 GB RAM, 128 GB storage

●      Screens: BE 6 offers dual 12.3‑inch—XEV 9e upgrades to triple 12.3‑inch displays

●      Audio: 16‑speaker Harman/Kardon with Dolby Atmos

●      One‑pedal driving & multi‑step regeneration, with boost modes

●      ADAS Level‑2, radar + camera, adaptive cruise and lane-keep assist

●      Safety: Six to seven airbags, all‑wheel disc brakes, brake‑by‑wire, TPMS, 360‑degree camera (Pack 3), Secure360 surveillance

These remain identical across Pack 2 and Pack 3, delivering a premium experience without paying top-tier price premiums.

Price (ex‑showroom)BE 6: ₹23.5 L, XEV: ₹26.5 L~₹26.9 L+

Pack 2 drops a few niceties – like 360‑cam – but keeps all core tech, performance, and range. And it costs ₹3–3.4 L less than Pack 3.

How They Compare With Rivals

●      MG ZS EV: Offers much lower range, undercuts prices of Mahindra Born Electric EVs with 50 kWh battery, but lags in tech, performance, and interior quality.

●      Tata Curvv EV: Much lower range, lags behind the Pack 2 in range, performance and features.

●      Tata Harrier EV: Lower claimed range of 627 km. Conventional petrol/diesel style as compared to world-class design of BE6 and XEV 9e.

Pack 2 puts XEV 9e/BE 6 ahead in range-performance-feature combo, for a mid‑20s price tag. Moreover, another clear advantage that both these electric-origin  SUVs have over many of the rivals is their 5-star safety score at Bharat NCAP. With equipment like 6 airbags, brake-by-wire technology, Level 2 ADAS and more, the Pack 2 models are as safe as their costlier siblings.

Mahindra’s EV Surge Supports Choice

Mahindra has delivered over 10,000 units of XEV 9e/BE 6 since mid-March, averaging a sale every 10 minutes, and that’s only top-tier 79 kWh variants. That shows strong demand for large-battery models. This illustrates that buyers want range, performance, and tech, not just the badge. With Pack 2, they get nearly all at a lower cost, thereby making a wholesome package even more accessible.

Summing Up Value

Pack 2 79 kWh delivers:

  1. Extended range, comfortably above the rivals.
  2. Sporty performance – 0–100 in ~6.7 sec.
  3. Full fast-charge (~175 kW).
  4. High-end features: triple screens, Level 2+ ADAS, 16-speaker Harman/Kardon with Dolby Atmos, one‑pedal drive, AR HUD, DOMS.
  5. Price advantage – ₹3–3.5 L less than Pack 3.

If you love tech, long drives, and brisk EV performance, but don’t require the 360‑cam or top trims, Pack 2 with 79 kWh looks like the best value in the Born Electric SUVs lineup.

Verdict

●      The Pack 2 79 kWh trims of XEV 9e and BE 6 strike an ideal balance between cost, range, performance, and comfort.

●      They sidestep the extra premium of Pack 3, while delivering the essentials that truly matter.

●      As Mahindra expands its EV reach – 10,000 sold in months – it shows this formula resonates with Indian buyers.

In short, if you’re shopping for a mid‑₹20 L electric SUV, and want genuine range plus tech-rich features, the 79 kWh Pack 2 variants of BE 6 and XEV 9e are likely the most compelling choice right now, and clearly way more well-rounded than any rival.
